This MY TWO CENTS IS ABOUT "THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING."

MY TWO CENTS WORTH
By Myrtle Poor

Greetings from the Sooner State. I hope all is well and blessed today by the wonderful hand of our Lord. It is twelve o'clock noon here and I have put off getting started on writing this today because I have absolutely no idea which way to go with this. As of this moment God has not given me a topic. I love it when I don't have a topic because then I have  to depend totally upon God when I write and it makes the anointing more precious when it does come.

The Spirit said to sit down and type and He would give me a topic, so here I sit waiting on the move of God. There are many things I could write about, but without the anointing of God it would be just a lot of words and would serve no purpose. I know how ministers feel when they are called on to preach and they have no message prepared.

There is a well known book out "THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING" by Vincent Peale. In this book he talks about how we can overcome negative things by thinking positive and speaking positive. "WE ARE WHAT WE THINK AND SPEAK!" Although the Bible, it tells us much the same thing.  Over and over the Bible tells us not to worry. Care, anxiety and worry is unbelief and unbelief is a sin.

The Bible says in Matthew 6:25 (KJV)  25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

When we are worried or anxious Satan takes that time to start feeding negative thoughts into our mind and when our minds are full of negative things then our mouths begin to speak negative things.

There is scarcely any sin against which our Lord Jesus more warns his disciples, than disquieting, distracting, distrustful cares about the things of this life. This often ensnares the poor as much as the love of wealth does the rich. He tells us not to worry and fret over anything for He will take care of us.

The Bible tells us to be careful about the temporal things of life which is our duty, but we are not to get carried away with them. We are to trust Him enough that we won't sit around and worry about everything in our lives. We are not to worry about the length of it; but refer it to God to lengthen or shorten it as he pleases. The time we live is in God's hands anyway because he is the one who created us. Neither are we to worry about the comforts of this life; but leave it to God to make it bitter or sweet as he sees fit. God has promised to give us food and clothes and we just take that for granted.

We have the Holy Spirit living in us and we don't have to worry about anything. We just have to believe and keep the faith consistently. By keeping a positive mind and thoughts and speaking positive things we can receive without worry or doubt. Don't ever say to yourself that I am broke even if you don't have a dime for if that is what you declare that is what you will have.

My mother was a worrier. She worried about everything for weeks before it happened and then when it came to pass it never came to pass the way she thought it would anyway. I have heard her pray for something to eat or wear for us children and then get up off her knees and start worrying about where the next meal was coming from. We never had much in our lives growing up except love and a big family and many a night we went to bed without a full stomach, but one thing about mom, when the situation became dire she would then get serious and go to God in a different attitude.

God would always come on the scène then and answer the prayer she had prayed and I have always felt like he answered her prayer before she had time to worry about it again. Hehehe She would pray and God would provide and then she would  worry about where it would come from when he used someone to bring it.  Bless her  heart she loved God so much and even though she knew God would provide, in the end she would look at the storm raging around and start to worry again.

The end of the matter is that it is the will and command of the Lord for us his children to be provided for by him. Through our daily prayers we get our strength and the desire to stand up under the troubles and trials physically, spiritually and financially that beseech us everyday. Every morning when we open our eyes on a new day we are forced to start a new battle with Ole' Slew Foot.

The Bible says in Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We will be happy if we take the Lord fully at his word and let none of the cares of the world bother us. If you stop and think about it you can worry until  your hair turns white from it and God will have his way and will in it anyway. So it would be a lot easier to lay all your worries in a petition at his feet and trust him to meet the needs that are so dire in your life everyday. Let the Spirit convince us of sin in the want of this disposition, and take away the worldliness of our hearts.  Give it all to God and he will take care of it all. The victory is ours. Let us claim it and rejoice in it.

It is God will to answer all our prayers. If you pray a prayer then turn around at the end of it and say to God if it is your will to answer it then answer it. Then you have already canceled out what you have prayed for. Your weakening your faith when you say that. Pray expecting that prayer to be answered. Except it by faith and praise Him for it then he is obligated to answer it.

THE REASON I WANT YOUR PICTURE
By Myrtle Poor
Copyright 2007

The reason I want your picture
Is so that I can see
Each time I look upon your face
You looking back at me.

The reason I want your picture
Is to hold within my hand
So each time I look upon your face
I will know you are my friend.

The reason I want your picture
Is to hold within my heart
So each time I look upon your face
I'll know its buried in my heart.

The reason I want your picture
Is to put within my purse
Is so each time I open it
For your friendship I will thirst

The reason I want your picture
Is so when I see your face
I know that deep within my heart
It holds a special place.
