Writer, and health care professional Moret points out that paucity in administrative competence within many Doctor’s practices is a large problem. Moret advises that the old paper records may be at the root of the problem and that utilizing electronic medical recording may be superior.

Rene P Moret’s HEALTH SCARE The Truth Behind America’s Health Care Crisis is a work of 149 pages encompassing 14 chapters, an Introduction and a Bibliography.

Information introduced includes Health Care vs Sick Care, Health Insurance Guarantees Higher Costs in addition to discussion of Group Health Insurance: leading to everyone Paying for Other People’s Bad Habits. I found quite interesting that while insurance may bolster the development of good sick care; it does not do so well when it comes to well care which diminishes the health care system.

Subject matter addressed includes Health Insurance’s Inimitable Conflicts of Interest, The Progression of Employer-Financed Health Care and whether more care is always better care. I read the section regarding Physician’s Offices with special interest. -Are they really stuck in the Dark Ages?- Writer, and health care professional Moret points out that paucity in administrative competence within many Doctor’s practices is a large problem. Moret advises that the old paper records may be at the root of the problem and that utilizing electronic medical recording may be superior.

Moret notes that costs are becoming less and less manageable, that prescribing a practicable plan is not always easy and that responsibility must become more than just a word.

The work closes with Moret’s portrayal of a great health care system which is often rooted in mistaken belief regarding just what it really takes to produce a great health care system. Moret notes that centralized funding is a means to an end as opposed to the current system which has too many market forces in favor of the status quo to effect much change.

In a 149 page work it is impracticable list every predicament with health care in the US; Moret details some of the chief problems that he believes to be contributing to the increase in cost of health care in our country. One development addressed by Moret is 1997 legislation passed by Congress, Direct to Consumer Advertising, has done much to lead major drug companies to evade the long-established doctor-patient relationship by creating demand via marketing drugs directly to consumers. Moret discusses too an increasing dilemma; the so called self-protective medicine practice, taking place as doctors change direction from sound medical procedure, perhaps at patient persistence to order tests or processes primarily to evade threat of a medical mismanagement lawsuit.

It is mind boggling to realize that in the US nearly 50 million citizens have gone without health care in the decades just past and that while the US ranks 37 out of 191 countries the U.S. health care system spends a bigger segment of the gross domestic product than does any other country. The March 2010 legislation, President Obama signed into law is intended to change health care for all Americans.

Moret dedicates the final chapters of Health Scare to description of what he feels is a pretty common sense proposal repairing the present system toward being more cost effective while providing more and better care.

I found Rene P. Moret’s book to be attention-grabbing, thought provoking, filled with data, charts and illustrations to drive home the point that after working in the health care industry for more than two decades, Moret, an independent health care specialist and former CEO of North American Medical Management in California has an explicit notions about health care, the problems we face and how those problems may be fixed.

Reading Health Scare plainly indicates that Writer Moret does not support the 2000 page health care bill lately endorsed by Congress. He is of the belief that this plan will significantly enlarge costs and eventually result in rationing of necessary health care services.

Mr. Moret, a certified public accountant he sees the health care and insurance problems we face as obvious and repairable without government intervention via present health care legislation.

Motivating, provocative; Happy to recommend Rene P Moret’s HEALTH SCARE The Truth Behind America’s Health Care Crisis

The medical profession has been faced with many challenges over the course of the past forty years. Most directly attributable to legal suites and legislation that serves the law professional(lawyers) more than the patient or the medical professional(doctor). Dramatic and rapid advances in technologies available to the medical professionals. As well as the onset of MBA's into hospitals and a plethora of other medical venues have presented formidable issues to contend with while also practicing medicine. The federal government's presence through Medicare/Medicaid and the FDA present even more challenges to be dealt with on a daily, patient by patient basis. Hospitals and special services businesses, testing, rehabilitation, etc. etc. have all become profit driven rather than service oriented. Because of the insurance claims processing requirements burdened upon all those groups by the federal government's intervention through Medicare et al and individual insurance providers. The medical profession in every discipline is overwhelmed with undue bureaucracy. We are witnessing once again the staggering costs and support burdens the federal bureaucracy creates on what is a private sector, free enterprise function. If you believe it is untenable now, wait until 2013 when tens of thousands of little bureaucrats become fully involved in the doctor/patient relationship through Health Care Reform. Love and peace to you my dear friend. Jon Michael
