I was reading the “big book” of Alcoholics Anonymous today. I learned many things. First and foremost, I learned that resentment is the major culprit in the demise of many an alcoholic into the unhappy oblivion of an alcohol induced escape from unpleasant realities. This tells me something that enriches my life: if anyone is married to an alcoholic (or otherwise addicted personality), that person does their loved one great harm if he or she is easily offended and shares her resentments with her beloved. Share your love, your bread, and your bed—but don’t share your resentments. Instead, get rid of them (the resentments, I mean). They will break the back that carries them! Let them go and be free. Perhaps in the process you will find that everyone who lives within the sphere of your influence is healthier and happier because resentment has been banished (at least by you) from the home in which you live.

I wrote a poem about this Three Cautions.

Lots here to think about and reflect on, so many people are so easy to find someone else to blame or look down on people with addictions.

I recall St. Paul, in I Corinithians 13 wrote - Love ... does not keep a record of wrongs. As you said, the same with resentments.
