Synchrodestiny is Dr. Deepak Chopra's term for the study and investment in synchronis energy building into remarkably spontaneous continuity and creative transformation in individual and group experience.
My first exposure to Deepak Chopra's series of audio tapes title, Synchrodestiny has been about seven years ago now. Because the operation of basic life principles put forth in the series made so much sense and resonated with some experiences I'd had, I have been actively practicing building my life's synchronicities into synchrodestiny ever since. I recommend
this tape series to anyone interested in pursuing synchrodestiny in experience.
Before I paint the picture of my most recent example, let me describe what is meant by building synchronicities into synchrodestiny. Whenever two unlikely events or conditions happen with remarkable timing it is commonly called a coincidence. When one experiences a
co-incident even from the perspective that life does not express anything at random, but rather according to a creative order which allows for continuity of collective experience, then co-incidence evolves into synchronicity. Now, launching into the adventure of building synchrodestiny is about taking this natural progression in consciousness from coincidence to synchronicity one step farther; when a synchronicity occurs, take the time to acknowledge it with enthusiasm and interest. Begin to entertain questions like, "What will happen next? What does this have to show me?" It may sound silly at first, but soon what was occassional co-incidence can become almost daily synchronicity that can be anticipated in a spirit of cooperation with Life. As this process accumulates and is shared with others the combined synchronis experiences and consciousness can lead to transformational synchrodestiny for everyone that a series of events touches.
Here is the example from my own recent experience: Practicing sychrodestiny over the years, significant dates such as birthdays and anniversaries have come to be key in timing of unfolding synchronicity. This example is rich with layers of effect, and has expaned to encompass effecting a great many people.
It all started with a Sweat Lodge I participated in on December 12, 2005. For those of you who may not be familiar with a Sweat Lodge, it is a particular Native American Spiritual practice of prayer, individually and in a group. As it happened this was the eve of the anniversary of my mother's death nine years before. Mom actually died at 4:15 a.m., Friday, December 13, 1996. Just realizing that I would be in ceremonious prayer over the time she was in transition from life into death I knew would be very powerful. In my experience this was a spontaneous arrangement, not chosen by me. The date and time were set by the keepers of the lodge, who were unaware of my mother's journey.
With this on my mind all that day, the day of the 12th, I prayed and meditated, with no particular preconceived idea--just for guidance in what was to come. Because part of building synchrodestiny is about making significant people aware when synchronicities are in motion, I had told my husband Vernon about the dates synchronicity so that he was tracking it as well, in his experience.
While I was in the sweat lodge, Vernon was in our home-office on the computer and discovered that a piece of writing I had submitted for publication to an
E-zine had been published that day. Then, in the very same two-hour time frame, Vernon got onto a conference call with a business-building support group, and won Complimentary Registration for two to attend a 3 Day Workshop with one of his mentors. He had to call in three separate times without giving up on the chance--this package worth an estimated $2,000.00. Were we tickled??? We were tickled, and feeling sooo blessed!!!
THEN, as the date for the gifted workshop approached, Vernon was offered an interview for a significant promotion with his company--into the area he'd been aiming for. The interview was scheduled for the first day of the workshop. Vernon called the custodians of the tickets to discuss our double-blessing. The unique nature of the content of the workshop prohibited us from changing the dates to attend. It was too much of a shame to see the tickets go to waste, so the administration found another couple who could use the tickets last minute. A few days later, on the appointed day when Vernon was offered the position on the first interview, we realized his energetic investment and perseverence in trying for what he wanted getting the tickets opened the door energetically to this career step of a lifetime.
Here is another example, of a different quality, but equally powerful and affective. In this example, I started tracking synchronicity in events NOT unfolding as generally anticipated. There are times when my first clue to something special happening begins with an experience that is "oddly unlikely."
It may be something of minor significance in the beginning.
This particular day I was flying out
to see a friend I visit on a monthly basis. On my way to the airport at my customary time, I discovered the departure time on my ticket read 45 minutes earlier than normal--I had not caught it in reconfirming. In that moment, I chose not to get flustered; I created Plan B in my head for the eventuality of likely missng my flight.
Arriving at curbside checkin with my bag, there were additional uncommon challenges--now, the universe had my attention. Inside, I began asking, "What's up? What piece is next for me to see or understand?" Then, when I got inside, I was advised the flight was in an oversale situation, so I need not rush myself, under the circumstances. Since my conscious perception had already shifted into tracking more going on than it appeared, this was now more a confirmation than a surprise, and I remained completely relaxed.
I have a disability, and often a use wheelchair in large airports. As I settled myself into a chair to make my way to the gate, just in case, a lovely young woman whom I did not know--also on my flight--came up to push my chair as if she and he family had known me all my life. In the pleasantry of introductions, we all whisked right through security, and before I knew it we were in the gate area just as initial boarding was announced. Now, I have no idea how this next part happened--and in moments like this, I try not to hang on to details too closely--the gate agent approached me with my boarding pass--seat assigned, and invited me to pre-board. I inquired as to the oversale and she said, "Oh, yes, that was true , as she moitoned me on to the plane! Well, now I knew that the most empowering step I could take to go with, and encourage this Flow was to pass it on. As I boarded the plane, I said to the attendant, "This has been a most gracious morning; blessings to you for the day, as well."
When I got to my destination, the "normal" timing of my friend picking me up, etc. was a little off, in practical terms, and we both felt it, but chalked it up to being a minor detail at that point . With a couple adjustments to our plan, we were on our way. It was when the next two things we attempted to do got thwarted, we both started paying attention again.
(One place of business was closed at 10:00 a.m., mid-week. Another was out of what we needed.) We decided it best to go back to square one, at her house, and scrap our original plan for, we-did-not-know what was happening, instead. On the drive I filled her in about what happened on my way in, so when we got to the house, our hearts and minds were both open, and praying for guidance.
Over the next two hours that morning we ended up in a very tender phone conversation with a mutual friend--who "just happed" not to be working his corporate job that day, which culminated in information, awareness and emotional connection of life-changing proportions for my friend whom I had come to visit. She had lost her huband to illness within this last year, and this conversation brought her understanding and serenity around her loss she had not imagined possible.
