Well, I can dream can't I?
This Is What I Want -
well I can dream, can’t I?
The Disclaimer:
If you have stumbled on this article in the hope of finding something to distract you, and you are, or consider yourself,a liberal in life and in political beliefs, you probably should look further for another distraction.
This article is about me as an individual, and my wants and beliefs as an independent thinker. Someone who is dedicated to an archaic belief that our forefathers intended for each of us to be, as Christians, and strongly religious people of any faith believing in a single God, righteous people with a deep regard for God, family, country and our fellow man. Or even Agnostics and Atheists with the same value base.
Now Then:
Here is what I believe, in no particular order of importance, and without regard to another’s beliefs or with any desire whatsoever to try to persuade you or anyone else to change over to what I believe. This week will deal with politics.
What I am saying here is what, if I had the power to do, I would. Without a care for you or your own personal interests.
First, the word ‘politician’ would be reserved for those who had studied political science for a minimum of four years and had a degree in it. Second, they must have taken at least two years of courses dealing with humanity and values with an emphasis on integrity. Further they must realize upon finishing their degrees and wanting further to serve their country as a servant of the people they must understand they would need to keep their degrees current by re-testing every three years for them. In addition they must have a minor degree in economics with a thorough understanding of budgeting. And finally, they must realize and swear upon penalty of imprisonment that no meeting with a lobbyist or Superpac or corporation, or attorneys for any of the preceding can take place without being witnessed by a member of the party in minority at the time. All such meetings must be documented word for word, electronically in writing and in voice, and nothing can be left out, mistakes and all in interpretation or intent.
Next, no politician could serve for more than two consecutive terms, and should they desire to serve again, they must move to another state and switch their political party to represent people of an entirely different economic background.
Those would simply be for starters since any attempts to gerrymander the sytem would be constantly checked and rechecked.
This would be for all political offices from every level, from municipal to county to state to federal positions. An attorneys degree would be helpful but secondary, in particular to ethics and economics and of course, polical science.
Only colleges with constantly upgraded courses in the above could qualify to empower such degrees. And there would need to be scholarship programs for every ethnic group available for citizens of the United States only.
Any regulation that applies to businesses of any class or size must apply universally. If it soes not apply universally, it must not pertain to any.
The Federal government could not step into any business and take it over. It must close it down and freeze all assets until a thorough investigation could be held, then if necessary, be sold to any private company or group with a proven track record in that specific business. Takeovers by the government could not take place.
If the economics of a program, such as welfare, social security, public healthcare, or any beaucracy can not be maintained on a pay as you go basis with consideration for future benefits being available, then it must be dismantled in a manner that will take care of the most needy first and then phase it out over an appropriate time that considers the funds currently available for it. If the funds don’t exist, than only the most needy based on their current status as to the length of time they may have paid into the system.
The states would be responsible for drawing up programs for all social benefits.
But until every state had the ability to offer such programs they cannot be offered unless the population of that state, votes as a whole to make provisions for those unable to provide for themselves.
Education standards would be set by each state not by the federal government.
This is the end of my first list of things I would do. I’ll have another list next week.
Yeah baby! A brand new set of what I would do. Yeah! Yay, and Uhhmmmmm!
