Tonight I am going to watch American Idol, like many people. I enjoy the music and the people who are competing. But as I think of the idol.I reflect on who I admire. Yes, I respect peoples gifts and talents and the like the idea they are using their gifts. But who do I admire? It had to be Mother Teresa.
I wrote a manuscript using quotes she had said and then doing a reflection of the quotes. It was going to be published by Paulist Press, but her order wouldn't give us permission to use the quotes because the books I had gotten the quotes from had written some inacurately. That was very disappointing. But I became very close to Mother Teresa. Spiritually anyway. I never met her, but I researched alot and I admired her faith in God even when she was having her own crisis in faith.
Her faith seemed simple yet so profound. Her joy brought light to many and she seemed to have a deep devotion to God.She was a great believer of prayer and actions. That you needed both to follow Jesus. She also wanted to surrender all to him.I found that I related alot to her faith. Don't get me wrong- I am in no way in the same ball park or league that she was- but none the less I could relate.
So the person I admire the most is Mother Teresa. No, she probably wouldn't have been onn American Idol I don't think she would have accepted even if she had been invited. But to me she is my hero.I won't say idol because - well I am uncomfortable using that word. She would hate being called that. But I just have to remember it's just the name of a show. But - no, I do not have any idols. I have people I admire , but my everything is God.
