Lesbians Shouldn't Write and Promote Christian-Fantasy Novels?

I even had one blogger tell me that they anticipated negative feedback because I was a lesbian trying to promote what is essentially a christian-fantasy novel, and would rather not deal with it.

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision. Lynn Lavner - as published in PFLAG

It was just a few days ago that I found this article in the New York Times titled “Rift Forms in Movement as Belief in Gay ‘Cure’ Is Renounced”, and the question came up, what is it with these extreme Christians and their problem with homosexuals? Are they faulting God for creating gays? Not being an expert in all things gay, I asked one of the authors I publish, Max Markam, for a comment, because... well, he is gay. I knew that Max's answer would reflect his usual calmness and authority, but I was pleasantly surprised by the length and great detail of his response (See Exodus International: A Cure for Gayness).

Coincidently, just a few days later, I received an email from another one of my authors, Ronnie Massey. Ronnie is the author of Crimson Dawn, a fantasy novel, and we have just published her next novel, UnBound: Battle of the Half-Angels. Ronnie is African-American, a single mother, a great writer, and... oh, she is a Lesbian.

Being a so-called micro-publisher we also depend on the help of our authors, and Ronnie is very active and skilled promoting her work. In her email she asked for some marketing tips for UnBound. She wrote that she was trying to follow the same route that she did with Crimson Dawn, but a lot of the same people that she used, are wary to review UnBound or post about it, because the two are so different from each other.

That reads like a common issue for any author, but the next comment had me shake my head in disbelief: "I even had one blogger tell me that they anticipated negative feedback because I was a lesbian trying to promote what is essentially a christian-fantasy novel, and would rather not deal with it." Honestly, I am appalled by this disturbing level of discriminational thinking.

There are a myriad of thoughts that come to mind, thoughts that scream at me to write them down, but let me say just this: Any campaign against homosexuality is based on hate and hate speech. Hate speech always comes with deception. Jesus Christ told us to love our neighbors, and I'd rather go with love than with hate.
