"Neither Afghan nor Islam" is one of eight articles in the section, "Symposium on September 11 2001: Terrorism, Islam and the West" in _Ethnicities_, London: Sage Publications Ltd., June 2002, Volume 02, Issue 02. The full text can be read in the journal. The following is the article's introductory and closing paragraphs.
"The events that occurred after the 11 September 2001 terrorist attack on the USA were alternately predicable and surprising. That the US and its allies struck back at Osama bin Laden and his Taliban protectors was predictable. That the Taliban's repeated calls for the Islamic world to join them in a _jihad_ --- a holy war --- against the USA went unheeded was less predictable. The American public's response to Islamic and Arabic people was surprisingly positive: at the urging of President George W. Bush, the public reached out and embraced Muslims and Arabs.
...
"11 September will not soon be forgotten. The Taliban and Osama bin Laden have paid a huge price for perpetrating terror. The terror of 11 September has also produced a greater tolerance for people of all faiths and ethnic groups in the US, and that is good."

| Very insightful and compels me to want to read more of your works. I say to Robert that the ties, supplies, training camps and the like pretty well solidified for me what the Taliban were up to. The evidence is all around. Key intel has come from Taliban camps and safe houses in other countries. Yes, yes the CIA has done some questionable things in what they believe is strengthening our security, and many times, they might be wrong, but the supposed innocent students were learning how evil we are and it seems like maybe Robert, without even going to a middle eastern school also believes that we are more evil than the Taliban and the Bin Laden. |

Aren't you begging the question here? You say "The Taliban and Osama bin Laden have paid a huge price for perpetrating terror". Who says the Taliban perpetrated terror? That's like saying the Beverly Hillbillies did it. The Afghan Qur'aan students (Taliban) didn't even own a hot air balloon between them.
No, the Taliban did not perpetrate terror. Rather, they stopped the growing of opium and that upset CIA who makes heroin from that to sell in order to fund their covert operations. Not even the Bolivians can grow opium as cheap as Afghans.
Now, what about Usaamah bin Ladin? Well, his first video message showed him saying he had no clue who the responsible party was. And that video, the first, is the only authentic bin Ladin video we've received. A slew of fakes have followed, providing Uncle Sam and his information warfare teams with the bogey man they needed to rally American popular opinion behind war. So, bin Ladin said he didn't do it, and I believe him. The fake videos show Uncle Sam's IW hand in this, and bin Ladin's continued silence indicates that he is most likely dead from the unAmerican bombing of Afghanistan.
The Taliban and bin Ladin paid a price, but not for waging terror. No, they paid the price for crossing CIA and standing up to American State terrorism. The State is the terrorist, not the victims.
Now moving on to 9-11, who did the attacks? It's proved that Taliban had nothing at all to do with them (www.TruthAboutWar.org) and bin Ladin said he didn't do them, so who?
Mossad agents were seen splitting their sides laughing at the attacks as they were video taping the towers burning. Other Mossad agents were rounded up around the country, detained, and sent back to Israel.
We don't know who did the attacks. The government line is that all the dead Arab passengers were the perpetrators, not some of them, but all of them. But did you ever know an Arab that could be on time, let alone 4 different groups on planes? Those attacks required planning, a level of sophistication that those being blamed just don't have.
For my money, the attackers were operated by CIA and/or MOSSAD.
Just two weeks before, they were the dogs of the world - their countries walking out of the World Conference on Rascism at Durban. But after the attacks, they had a blank check and free ticket to do whatever they want. And they're doing it.
Thomas Paine put it well - "War is the gambling table of governments, citizens the dupes of the game."
