A FORMER teacher from Chatham House has published the first of four fantasy adventure novels.
Martyn Croft, who taught maths for 25 years at the Ramsgate school, only took up writing in December.
After just 44 days he had written his first of four adventure stories set in a seaside town in 1962.
The book, titled The Fantastic Journey, tells the story of two 12-year-old boys who buy a mysterious object with magical powers.
Mr Croft said: "The idea came from one of those stories that we used to make up at university. I took up writing after moving to Sutton-on-Sea , in Lincolnshire.
Mr Croft explained that his family and friends have all read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The former teacher, who retired last year, hopes his work may inspire other people who have finished work to discover the joys of writing.
The Fantastic Journey was published in August. It is available online from www.arimapublishing.com at £9.50
