I can start this devotion by complaining, or by Praising God and sharing with you some scripture and thoughts. I chose Praising God over complaining, I hope you will Praise Him with me.
Life is really hard for us in the 21st century, especially if your walking with Christ and your not of the world. Let's take a look at Jeremiah who was persecuted for being faithful. Jeremiah was not popular; his words undermined the morals of the army and the people. (Jeremiah 4,5) (and 38:6) officials put Jeremiah in a cistern to kill him. Judah's leaders persecuted Jeremiah repeatedly for faithfully porclaiming God's message.
God does not say his servants will escape persecution, even when we are faithful. But God does promise that he will be with us and will give us strength to endure(2 Corinthians 1:3-7).
Persecution can benefit us also, in Matthew 5:11-12 it says Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Persecution hurts so bad, sometimes it can be physical, sometimes mental, and spiritual. We can find assurance during persecution, see Luke 21:14-19. God will give us words and wisdom that none of our adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. We will be betrayed by our own families. This reminds me of a fall out between my sister and I, she refuses to speak to me, its been almost a year now. God said this would happen by our own loves one's.
Persecution my result from living for God. Living for God often brings on persecution. Jesus "overcame the world" those who stand firm until the end will be saved. (see Matthew 10:17-18; John 16:33; Matthew 10:22;
Let's look at (Revelation 7:17;) What a day that will be. God will wipe away every tear. When we are suffering or torn apart by sorrow, take comfort in this promise of complete protection and relief.
Prayer: Precious Lord Jesus, we thank you that one day you will wipe away all our tears. Oh, Jesus we PRAISE you for your love and your faithfulness and I know we are so grateful for your love, for your forgiveness, help us to endure Lord, help us to stand firm for you my Lord, overcame the world..In Jesus Name..amen
