Today, the whole world watched the Inauguration of Barack Obama, America's first African-American commander-in-Chief.

November fourth two thousand-eight was a Historic Date for all Americans.  America made history while the whole world watched.  This was a day that many of us thought we would never see in our life time.   Barack Obama became president-elect for the United States of America.  He became America’s first elected African-American commander-in-chief.  When President-elect Obama was a little boy and people asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, president of the United States was probably not one of his answers or was it?

On November fourth two thousand-eight America stood up and shined in front of the whole world.  They saw us for what we are:  A strong, united, nation that picked the best candidate to be our commander-in-chief in spite of his skin color.  We didn’t see color or creed.  We saw the best man for the job to lead us and to be our commander-in-chief.

This was not just the day Barack Obama made history.  This was not the day African-Americans made history.  This was the day Americans made history, all of us together.  This was a great day for all Americans. This was the day Americans made history while the whole world watched.  We elected Barack Obama in spite of being an African American.

This man spoke and we listened.  He traveled and we followed.   Hundredths of thousands of people gathered, wherever he went to hear what he had to say.  Who was this cool, calm, charming, organized and powerful man?  Everyone wanted to know.  We soon found out and we liked what he stood for.  His opponents threw every thing they had at him; he may have staggered, but he did not fall.  He took everything that was thrown at him and came back stronger and more powerful.    No matter what was thrown out there at him; Barack Obama did not stray from his beliefs. He stuck to what he believed in.  America listened and we knew he was the best man for the job.  Americans knew this was the commander-in chief that we needed at this period of time. All Americans can stand up and be proud of what we have accomplished.  Two thousand-eight was a big year for America.

Slaves helped build the white house; on January 20, 2009 the first African-American president and his beautiful family will move into the white house and  make it their home for the next four years.   America, look how far we have come! Look what we have done!   America the beautiful.  America the brave.  America the strong.  America the proud.  America the united.  America made History as the whole world watched.  November fourth was a great historic day for all Americans.   We did it together.  Our first African-American President-elect, because we knew he was the best man for the job.  We elected Barack Obama because we wanted the kind change he promised, we believe Barack Obama will deliver.  November fourth two thousand eight will go down in history as a great day for America.  We made history together.

Today, January 20, 2009, the world watched the Inauguration of Barack Obama, America’s first African American president.  Congratulations, Barack Obama, President of the United States of America.  Congratulations America!

Great write. Growing hope is the way I watch this presidency unfold. Could you believe the way Roberts botched the inauguration? I would have had him do it again too. I was not fooled for one minute that Roberts did it on purpose in the first place. God Bless us all. Liz

I know that Sen. McCain voted with Bush Jr. 90% of the time. I, seriously, do not recall Sen. Obama voting with Bush Jr. 90% of the time.

We must not forget that we did not see Cynthia McKinney campaigning against Bush for the Presidency because the power elite did not like the way the Congresswoman voted against Bush Junior when she was in Congress. The power elite did like the way Senators Obama and McCain voted with Bush Junior ninety percent of the time. When we let the power elite decide who our candidates for office will be, we are not getting politicians who represent our interests - they represent the interests of the power elite.
