When I was a boy I dreamt of being a hero. But as time went on I faultered, and my dream evaporated into thin air. I suppose my most heroic effort was taking casre of my mother. You might ask, "What was so heroic about that?" Well, you didn't know my mother.

As of late, I find myself in a bit of a quandry, because I now realize I can never be a hero in the true sense of the word. But now I know who the true heros of our society are. They are the everyday men and women who hear their calling, and then go on to make a sacrifice. They are all the people who gave their lives on 9/11. They are the people who fight in wars and sacrifice their lives and body parts, so the rest of us can enjoy freedom, have individual rights, and pursue happiness. Heros are also everyday men and women who work thankless jobs, and raise good, strong children, children who go on to their own chosen tasks. We should respect them all. They are all more beautiful than they know, and I pray that the common good of the common poeople will form a halo around their heads.

You see, I believe we are all heros when we do something good. But the otherside of the coin is also true . We can easily become anti heros if we open up our doors to evil thoughts, actions, and elitest attitudes.

So let us all become the heros of our lives, so that we can inspire the lives of others.

Ron, The heros are people like my mom, raising 9 kids who are all productive citizens, imagine the implications if that were true universely. I see so many parents that are so pathetic. As a nurse I recently saw a mom, who has had 5 kids removed from her care due to drugs and alcohol, and she came in 3 months pregnant with both cocaine and alcohol on board and I feel blessed to have had a mom who really was a heroine. Your thoughts are valuable and appropriate in this time of disposable families, and heros that in truth are only rich spoiled sports figures, Our children deserve a better class of hero.
