This is my latest article that will be appearing soon, as always it will appear here first. I also want to take a moment and thank those readers that have contacted me, via e-mail. The response has been overwhelming…for those (like myself), that are outraged at the staggering amount of money that this administration is pilfering from the American tax payer, without any real debate or accountability, suggests to me, that we’ve reached a critical crossroad in our history, the “nationalization” of private industries, and the slow chipping away of our freedoms.

And He Laid His Hands on Them, and Healed Them

Luke 4:40

by Robert Amoroso

February 13, 2009

Watching President Obama speaking and performing at a town-hall style forum on Monday, in Fort Myers, Florida one couldn’t help but feel that the messiah had finally arrived, to save us all.

Chocking back tears, an elderly black homeless woman came to the podium, and in a low halting voice asked for assistance. Henrietta Hughes pleaded “I have an urgent need; we need a home, our own kitchen, our own bathroom”.

President Obama looking directly at Henrietta slowly walked towards her and wrapped his arms around her, and in a clear commanding voice, ordered his staff to meet with her after the event, and  assured her that he would help, and help he did. Senator Nick Thompson and his wife offered the woman a home in Fort Denaud, a 3-bedroom 2-bath house on three acres of land…”rent-free, for as long as Hughes needs it”.

As Henrietta sat down, another elderly woman stood up and with tear filled eyes blew a kiss towards the president, and mouthed the words “I love you”. Moments later a young man bolted from his seat, euphoric in his manner, as if being transformed, and exclaimed excitedly “It’s such a blessing to see you. Oh, gracious God, thank you so much”. Then he went on to say that he worked for McDonalds for about 4-years, and the benefits were not adequate, perhaps President Obama could also do something for him.

Watching these events unfold, I gently touched my plasma TV, on the image of President Obama, hoping that this miraculous moment might transcend to my own needs and wants, after all I reasoned, wasn’t Jesus also a man…made of flesh and blood?

I wasn’t asking for a new house, or an expensive car, or a Rolex. All I wanted was for my next novel, to be a best seller, and perhaps a movie deal to follow…was that asking to much?

Forget those phony TV preaches, and those bible thumbing evangelists, who constantly ask for money and donations, and give nothing in return…we now have the real deal, President Obama, aka….THE ONE, who gives us free stuff.

 Do I get an Amen!

Seriously, I’m not making light of these issues, we’re all struggling to survive in this economy. The irony is that this is the same government that created the housing meltdown, that now wants to hand out homes,” rent free”.

If your head isn’t spinning by now from all of the blather coming out of Washington, and from Fort Myers, Florida…hang on to your Bayer Extra Strength, there’s more to come from our illustrious leaders and of course THE ONE.

It seems that we now have a choice, on the “stimulus package before us. Like a Chinese menu we can now pick from either column A or B., and while the dishes may vary, rest assured they’ll be lots and lot of pork for everyone to enjoy.

Just like the “rent free” house for Henrietta, utopia has finally come to America, just think, there’s no need any longer for governors to balance their budgets, under this “stimulus package THE ONE, will take care of you. He’ll simply take from Peter to pay Paul, and leave the consequences for future generations and administrations, to work out.

He’ll wipe your nose and hand you a check, no questions asked and no need for fiscal discipline. After all you’re probably a “progressive state” like California or New York, never mind that in lala land you have the highest tax rates (10.3%) in the country, while in the Big Apple we enjoy a combined state and city tax rate of 10.5%...THE ONE will take care of you.

After all California is only $15 billion dollars in the red while New York is trying to close a $6.5 billion dollar hole and forget the fact, that since 1997 New York State lost over 409,000 people, or that California lost over 1.32 million native-born Americans within the last decade, THE ONE is coming to the rescue…no need for accountability, you’re “progressive states”.

Forget those states that show fiscal responsibility and balance their budgets, so what if states like Texas (with no personal income tax); have outpaced both California and New York by over 50%. Who cares if Texas is now the number one state for Fortune 500 corporate headquarters in the country…they don’t have THE ONE   propping them up and they’re not “progressive” enough.

And of course every messiah needs disciples, and who better then Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and let’s not forget Senator Charles “Chucky” Schumer, who eloquently captured the essence of the stimulus package by stating, “let me say this to all the chattering class, that so much focuses on those little, tiny, yes, porky amendments; the American people really don’t care”. Of course he went on to explain the bigger picture.

I suspect that Schumer may actually be on to something…that most Americans really don’t care. How else could one explain how the other disciple of THE ONE, Rep. Barney Frank, could get reelected by the good people of Mass, and actually chair a committee investigating banking irregularities. Let me repeat that again, Rep. Barney Frank is chairing the committee investigating banking irregularities…you can’t make this stuff up.

For those living in a vacuum or still looking to be saved by THE ONE, Rep. Barney Frank was the man (or whatever) in charge of overseeing the House Services Committee, for both Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, and allowed this Ponzi scam to continue unabated for years. In 2001 and again in 2002, he was warned of the potential meltdown, rather then, heed the warnings of the Administration; Rep. Barney Frank along with Senator Schumer ridiculed the alarm, suggesting that the agencies “are not in crises” and declared that the Bush Administration “exaggerates a threat of safety and soundness” and Frank actually encouraged both agencies to continue providing mortgages for low-income families…and now he’s chairing the committee and scolding bankers on Capital Hill.

Do I get an Amen!

Good morning Gary;

With all due respect, obviously you haven’t read my articles, if you had you would have seen there’s a big difference between doing nothing, (and no one has ever suggested that), and actually stimulating the economy, without the current massive spending bill that congress has  just voted on and President Obama signed…please don’t allow blind ideology to get in the way of sound economic principles. Simply take a look at recent history, perhaps to the Carter Administration, when there was double-digit inflation, and double-digit unemployment, an oil crisis, and American civilians held captive abroad.

Also, if you would have taken a little more time to simply read down this page, you would see that this current economic crises lies with BOTH Democrats and Republicans, and I agree with you that President Bush should be held accountable along with President Clinton, for actually starting the financial meltdown . Of course Rep. Barney Frank along with Senator Schumer should also be investigated for allowing both Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, to go unregulated with no oversight, for over 8-years.

Now...do I get Amen?

Seriously, thanks for your input...we all want the best for our country, and I sincerely hope that President Obama is successful, however economic history isn’t on his side.

Regards,

Amo

You are looking at the issues through one window. There are people hurting out there. Most economists agree that if nothing is done to stem this economic disaster that george Bush left us in, would cost the country more in food stamps, uemployment checks, wellfare, etc, etc. The republicans get the country with a surplus, which was whittled away in the space of 8years. Just like always, no one wants to be accountable, They quickly lay the blame and responsibility at the feet of others. ok, if it makes you feel better, blame the democrats.

OneLight,

Thank you for responding, obviously you haven’t read my articles, if you had you would know that no one is exempt from the truth and from facts. You asked me a question about President Bush, rather then answer your question; I’ll let my past article speak for itself. Below is an excerpt from that article, of course you’re always welcome to read the entire article.

The demise of the “American Dream”
By Robert Amoroso
September 28, 2008

I’m not one usually given to a doomsday scenario; however, what is taking place in our nation’s capital is both frightful and outrageous.
Frightful, in that our so-called elected officials have finally unmasked themselves for the inept cowardly buffoons they truly are, and outraged that “we” the American people tolerate these phony ideologues on both sides of the political aisle.
Watching President Bush, trying to explain the unraveling of the “American Dream”, and the $700 billion bail out, one couldn’t help but wonder, “where the hell was he”, for the last eight years? The outrage I felt, watching this pathetic display of a once forceful leader, distressed me, and I’m sure countless Americans across the nation, felt betrayed.
However, President Bush isn’t the only inept politician in this melodrama; there are others that deserve equal, if not more condemnation, and perhaps a quick history lesson is in order, to put all of this into perspective.
For over 55-years the banking industry was tightly regulated, then in November 1999 under then President Clinton, all that changed, with the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, which prevented banks from investing in high-risk Wall Street investments, President Clinton set into motion the beginnings of what we’re now facing. With restrictions eliminated, banks and other leading institutions began buying up and merging with investment banks, swapping assets, creating new loan "instruments" and thus weakening both independent systems.
Of course, the Clinton Administration didn’t stop there, within that same year Clinton appointed Franklin Delano Raines, the CEO, of Fannie Mae giant GSE (Government Sponsored Enterprise), which had been "privatized" and listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Under Raines, the Clinton Administration began lobbying Congress for less regulation and more "flexibility".

Factually, the Bush Bailout had Absolutely No Oversight and that's why it failed. The Obama Stimulus Package has built-in oversight for accountability.

Aren't you outraged at the staggering amount of money that the Bush administration pilfered from the American tax payer?

P.S. There was an enormous amount of debate that took place in both the House and Senate.

Let me get this straight--Hughes asked Obama for help-- the Senator gave her a house--Obama takes the credit!Others followed with 'I love you' & 'Thank God for you' while the Messiah absorbed the praise. Messiah my ass! This is just another example of how this man rides the backs of those that achieve while he does nothing. How long will this last?
