TRIBES

Tribe - a society or division of a society whose members have
Ancestry, customs, beliefs, and leadership in common.


The North American Continent -

From the Cold Arctic North, and across Canada,
There were Tribes of Indians as well as Inuits, or Eskimoes.
From Coast to Coast, across America, there were not only Tribes
Of American Indians, but also, literally, many Nations of them.
Across Mexico’s vast land areas, there were Tribes of Aztecs and Mayans.

Central America -

Throughout the many Caribbean Islands,
and spreading across Central America,
yet more Tribal cultures flourished.

South America -

The Fourth largest continent, comprising:
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador,
French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname,
Uruguay, and Venezuela - all inhabited by various and
Sundry Tribes of indigenous peoples.

Australasia -

The Region consisting of Australia, New Zealand,
New Guinea, and neighboring islands of the South Pacific -
Still more Tribes of people, most notable of which,
Are the Aborigines and Maori.


Austronesia -

Region consisting of Indonesia, Melanesia, Micronesia,
Polynesia, and neighboring islands in the Pacific Ocean -
Tribes, Tribes, and more Tribes!

Africa -

Bantus - Zulus - Shilluks, and many other Tribes
Were spread all across ‘The Dark Continent’.

The British Isles & Europe -

Scottish Clans - Celtic Tribes - Angles, Saxons,
Normans, Huns, Teutons -

The Middle East -

Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, Turks - Tribes still in existence today.
In Ancient Times, many Jewish Tribes were present.

Asia, Japan & Russia -

Not much information found ...
Were there any Tribes in these areas?

Ancient Rome -

Three Groups, or Tribes, known as
Latins, Sabines, and Etruscans made up
The ancient Roman society.


Doubtlessly, there are other areas, places, and names
Which could be added, however, I wish to jump to
Another point, or issue:

TRIBAL INSTINCTS ...


What comes to my mind is an old Book
And Movie ‘Lord of The Flies’

A portrayal of a Class of young British School-boys,
Who are marooned on an island in the ocean.

While they are certainly intelligent, and educated,
With the passage of time, they Revert Back
To their Tribal Instincts of Survival.

The lack of Adult Leadership takes its toll,
And they become literally ‘Blood-Thirsty’.


Then, I look at ‘Current Events’, like:
“The Arab Spring” and the on-going, growing
“Occupy Wall-Street.”

While ‘Good Intentions’ may be the basic reason,
The ensuing VIOLENCE seems to be inevitable!

“Even a cornered rat will strike out to Defend itself!”


When will the so-called ‘Leaders’ of the World
Ever Learn that ...

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ?


TRIBES?

Common Interests, Common Goals, and Common Beliefs
ARE POWERFUL MOTIVATORS!
