"Taking a Risk"
The two-car garage with the white picket fence was more than a state of tranquility; it was an image of stability. We all desire success, we have the need to be financially independent. For a great majority of Americans this remains a dream. They have aspirations, and some even have a goal list, but they donít know how to go about achieving these goals. Others are plain afraid.
What many donít understand is that the road to building wealth exists in the mind first. There was this police officer who went to work day in, day out, performing his daily routine. His thoughts were vocal when he told his department, "I wonít be here too much longer. I want to leave this job." Some one asks, "Well what about your retirement? Are you willing to just give that up?"
He says, "I want to get out and work for myself." His department laughed at him. The way the Police Officer planned it, not only would his profits exceed his salary being on the force, but he would be able to create residual income that would serve as his retirement fund. This was a big joke to his fellow officers. Today, the same officer Ė former officer is absurdly wealthy despite his former co-workers laughter after he quit and went into business for himself.
The police officer realized that there are risks that you must take. While his co-workers looked at their day jobs as security, he did not. To him, having a day job was just as chancy as starting his own company. Nothing in life is guaranteed, especially a job. With the job market being as unstable as it is, thousands of people are laid off every day. Producing a product or conducting a service to meet the demand of consumers would keep him employed, so to him entrepreneurship was his safest option.
Most of us have arrived at the conclusion that it is almost impossible to become rich as long as you hold a day job alone. I find this to be true . If you plan to become wealthy, you need to find a way to work for yourself. Work for yourself to make you rich instead of working for someone else to make them rich. So isnít it time that you thought about starting that business you always thought of? Be your own boss. You owe it to yourself. By owning your own business you stand to recover a great percentage of your start up costs, business expenses, and you get to claim several deductions that regular tax paying citizens donít get to claim.
If you are worried about money, then donít. A great source of help lies within your local Small Business Association. There are several ways that the SBA can assist people who own small businesses or ones that are looking to start one.
Through the SBA you can network with lots of entrepreneurs who can also lend sound advice and can help you get started. This support channel can be instrumental in locating monies to start your business. It can link you with financial advisors, tax accountants, legal assistance and much more. You owe it to yourself to start today.
