I used to think miracles only happened long ago and then an experience made me wonder
A Miracle?
I’d always thought of miracles as something you read about in the scriptures of every major religion. Amazing events like Jesus walking on the water or Krishna clothing Drapudhi, that happened long ago in far off lands and cultures, certainly not something I’d ever experience myself.
Then almost twenty years ago something happened which changed my mind and made me believe that miracles can still happen, even in our rational age, where science claims to explain everything.
It was a Monday and I wanted to change my library book, which entailed walking the length of two streets to where the mobile library van was parked in a car park behind some houses. I disliked going there as it was often deserted and I felt unsafe, especially as I’m unable to walk very fast .I always crossed my fingers and hoped that either other people would be changing their library books, or there would be no one around who appeared threatening.
I left the houses behind and starting walking towards the car park hoping for the best. My heart sank when I saw two rough looking boys charging round the tarmac on their bikes. I decided to ignore them and continued walking towards the library while they raced round me.
Then one called to the other
“Let’s knock her over!”
I was terrified. I couldn’t run to either the safety of the houses or the library, as I had no hope at all of outpacing them, especially carrying a heavy bag of library books. There was nowhere to shelter either and the library van ‘s door was closed, so they wouldn’t hear me if I called for help.
I only had one option. I stood my ground and prayed silently.
“Help me, God please.”
The two boys raced towards me. I felt oddly calm now and stood there without moving. I knew I faced a broken limb or worse, if they ran me down, but then the miracle happened. The bike flew from under one boy, throwing him to the ground. He was unhurt, but looked terrified. He slunk away with his companion.
Offering another silent prayer of thanks, I went on my way to the library.
I know skeptics would say it was just coincidence, but I’d seen those boys riding round and round the car park, their cycles not even wobbling and why else should one fall off at the very moment of my prayer if not in answer to it?
I know now, that miracles do happen as we can tap into the force of Supreme Power and Love and receive help if we ask.

Interesting incident. Miracles do happen but one should not get into the habit of asking for help from God every time unless it is absolutely necessary. However the example that you have given fosters hope for extreme situations

Thank you for sharing your very personal experience, Rose. It is written in a way that draws the reader in to the crescendo - the miracle. I too believe in miracles and some things have happened to me too that couldn't be explained in any other way. God is there if we dare to ask. I'd like to see more spiritual writing from you!

Rose, this sounds like you had a visit from your spirit guide or guardian angel! That is simply wonderful! The fact that you felt peaceful as these bikes were plummeting towards you only confirms the fact that whoever is assigned to watch over you deserves a big thank-you!

The little beast! (Did you know that Carrie did the same thing in the movie? It's one of my favourite scenes! And Hyacinth Bucket, on "Keeping Up Appearances," even knocked a surly motorcyclist off of his bike with a golf club.) Love, Cheryl
