Eagles and turkeys are very different of birds. Eagles let the winds of a storm carry them higher than they can go on their own. Turkey's look for shelter and hide when there is a storm. They wait for the storm to pass. Turkeys never soar! In hard times, are you more like the eagle or more like the turkey?!
ďThe Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.Ē Isaiah 40:28-31
Millerton Lake is a local lake where I live. Every January and February people get on boats to cruise the lake to watch the local eagles fly. The eagles are easy to spot and beautiful to watch. Our eagles will flock to Canada at the end of February.
When there is a storm that comes, an eagle will leave the security of its nest and spread its wings to ride the air currents of the approaching storm. They instinctively know the air currents of a storm will carry it higher in the sky than it could ever soar on its own. Eagles never flock together. When you look for an eagle you look for them one at a time and you have to look up high to find one.
When I think of a bird soaring I donít think they get tired. The winds are carrying them. Flapping there wings constantly would be the action that tires them out. To soar and not have to work at flying must feel so incredible. Itís probably the best part of being a bird!
Turkeys are a whole different kind of bird! A turkey will hide during a storm. They would never dare to leave a barn when a storm comes. They stay covered and wait for storms to pass. Guess what? We are in a storm. The storm of autism. Which kind of bird will we be like? The eagle or the turkey?
Let us spread our wings and put our faith and trust in Jesus. We need to face this storm head on and rise above its nastiness. Maybe then we can feel what it feels like to fly without flapping our wings so hard! Letís ask Jesus not only to carry us but to teach us how to soar like an eagle! The Bible promises if we soar like an eagle, we can run and not grow weary. We can walk and will not feel faint. What a neat promise we have today!
When you pray today, tell God you long to soar above the storm of autism. Ask Him to be the wind that takes you higher. Put more of you hope in the Lord today. He will renew your strength.

| ďAnd there was a war in heaven: Oh dear GOD in heaven, in JESUS name I pray. To find somewhere inside YOUR heart, to grant me one more day. One more day for me to pray and this is all I ask. To give me strength to carry on with Michaelís awesome task. To live inside YOUR will on earth, I am a humbled man. So say the word my LORD dear God , Iíll do the best I can. Although You know without your help, my best is not to be. So my LORD I ask once more, please be there for me. So hear I am again my LORD , down upon my knees. Praying for forgiveness, and begging for to please. Thereís one last thing before I go, and this thing I request. For YOU and I to bring this earth, to itís final place of rest. I would hope that I were an eagle, but gobble like a turkey. LOL
Thanks for writing this inspiring piece: perhaps it will help me to remember to rely on God, the Source of my Strength, my Rock, my Refuge, and yes...even my Wings. :)
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
