W. Calvin Anderson joins with three African American male authors to cover sports, business and the arts. The three men give voices to support new poise of black male presence in Atlanta.

Atlanta - February 7, 2008 Three authors, CARL AGARD, JOE HARRIS and W. CALVIN ANDERSON have been invited by major bookstores Barnes & Nobel Booksellers (Buckhead, Saturday, Feb 16th 2 p.m.) and Borders Books: Music Movie & Café (Lithonia: StoneCrest Mall, Sunday, Feb. 17th 2 p.m.) to take Atlanta by storm a week after Senator Obama swept through in politics.
The three dynamic writers will launch a tour de force of Black men galvanizing new readerships and bringing fresh insights and humor into their respective literary worlds. Their books revisit the worlds of: business, sports and poetic genre.
Carl Agard, celebrated author of Getting The Real Out of Real Estate and well respected in diverse business circles launches his new book, Getting The Real Out of Starting a Business. Carl is a down-to-earth how-to guru who writes and conducts market-specific business workshops. He provides invaluable reference information, critical analysis and tips to new and savvy entrepreneurs. Getting The Real Out of Starting a Business is an entertaining and informative guide that teaches you specifically, how-to: build wealth through Real Estate and Entrepreneurship while strategically eliminating debt.
Joe Harris, is a consummate professional and proud alumni of Georgia Technical College. Joe looks back with the integrity of a gentle giant at the sport of football that made him great. He is a Super Bowl championship player that pioneered with others significant trails and challenges in the sport at a pivotal time in our nation’s history. Joe Harris the winner and champion, shares with us the bitter-sweet love story he’s had with the game of his dreams. Joe has gone on from the game to work successfully in business, marketing and sales. He has coached and encouraged scores of young athletes and provides high-level concierge services to supportive families of young athletes with professional potential. Joe is also a sought-after motivational speaker because of his warm presence, and his knowledgeable and friendly style. His new book is called The Stars That Never Shine: The Making of an NFL Super Bowl Player.

The Stars That Never Shine provides a rare personal review of the mechanics of playing high school and college football. He captivates his readers with insights into the intense culture and personality of the game and the patience and skill-filled ingredients necessary to seek professional athletic status, residual money and fame in the NFL. This is a must read for hopeful young athletes and earnest fans. We look today as a public very seriously at the mechanics of American sports and their redeeming values. This book talks about providing entertainment, professional performance, human integrity, partnering with pro league management objectives, personal pride, personal discipline, teamwork and excellence in life.
W. Calvin Anderson, a poet, educator and development consultant. Calvin has been writing poetry since the late 1960’s. He was first published by Ruby Dee in 1972. He has been encouraged through the years by many historic writers including, James Baldwin, Charles Gordone, Lofton Mitchell, Ron Milner, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee.
Calvin has recently published a new 130-page volume of his works called MindShare: Poetry Love, Politics and Prayer. MindShare includes two books in one volume. His first book included, is called, Chores And Life’s Choices. Chores features, an introduction by the late actor, playwright Ossie Davis. Chores uses poetry to trace the psycho-graphic development of the African American male psyche from the Slave Ship to views about prophetic women: Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks. It has hot and ethereal love poems and a piece called With the Humility of a Clown. MindShare also includes a collection of work called, Being In Time. Being which chronicles epic, irate and sensitive love poems; a one-of-a kind political worldview brining us up to date to 2008. Being offers, sophisticated prayers and a passion for America, composite of all-of-us, to simply get it right! Calvin has performed his work on television, radio, in many communities and for major colleges and universities across the east coast.
This unique Tour de Force of Black Male Writers is a perfect social accent for relevant book parties in these thrilling times of social awareness and awakening. Carl, Joe and Calvin plan to bring people together through their books and ideas. They will platform dynamic conversations about “the real deal” in: sports, business, love, politics, prayer and literature in general.
The three men take Atlanta by storm one week after Senator Obama reminds the public that black males may have more to say to the nation and the world that we all thought.
The wide appeal to readers’ interest in sports, business and then the arts promises to awaken every literary appetite. The teamwork of these three men in and of itself makes a unique statement of unity in the 2008 Black History Month in the hometown of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Join the Tour de Force of Black Male Writers and their friends. It’s a meeting of sports celebrities, business minds, poetic charm and other fun sure to continue into this exciting new era.
