Does God Love Satan?

He loves everyone, right?
I once heard a Sunday school teacher tell a class of children, "God loves everybody." One young budding debater immediately asked, "So does He love Satan?" The teacher was at a loss. She fumbled and stumbled, and never answered the question fully, at least not to my satisfaction.
So now I find myself wondering, DOES God love Satan? To some, this may seem a simple question with an obvious answer - but it's not. If God loves everyone, how can He not love Satan? But if God is good and Satan evil, how can He possibly love him?
I know that at one time, God did love Satan (or Lucifer, as he was called then) - just for interest: Lucifer means "Morning Star". God created Lucifer (yes, He created him) - a beautiful, shining archangel whose job was to direct the angelic choir. Lucifer was a loyal subject of the King and was surely loved by his Creator.
However, after he rebelled, fell from Heaven, and got a name change (Satan means "The Adversary"), Satan was no longer worthy of love. So God stopped loving him - right? Wait a doggone minute! Are WE worthy of love? We fell too. That's why we can't get into Heaven without Jesus' forgiveness. We are unworthy. So what makes us different from Satan? Why should God love us and not him?
These are questions I wish I could answer, but I cannot. I know this will make many people mad, but I cannot accept that God hates. I now know why that Sunday school teacher gave a noncommittal answer: she didn't know either.
I'm sorry to all my readers who thought I would tell you once and for all whether or not God loves Satan. But I can't make a statement I don't know for sure is true . Does He? God knows.

Esther... I once asked this very same question and received an immediate reply. Yes, God does love satan; however, what makes satan satan is that he rejects God's love. This then is what makes him God's enemy. Therefore, anyone who rejects God's love is God's enemy.

I don't know either. i wonder if Satan even knows? or cares? Anyway, in ref to D. Caban's comment, as far as i know angels as well as humans have free will, they just aren't born with the Sin Nature like we are.

This question bugged me a lot as a kid! I never understood how an angel COULD rebel... if humans are the only ones with free will, how could an angel disobey God?
