What Easter and spring mean to me...

Our son, Brenton, was born April 16, 1996, just a little over a week after Easter.  Unfortunately, he was born with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome, a congenital heart defect, which brought about his death three days later.

I was in the hospital for a week, due to complications surrounding his birth.   When I had entered the hospital it was raining.  The signs of spring had not yet emerged and the world was gray and drab, and still somewhat cold.  It rained much of the time I was in the hospital, as if the heavens were mourning with me.  I dreaded leaving the hospital, knowing that my arms would be empty when I departed; however, the thing that I really remember about coming home from the hospital wasn't that my son wasn't with me, but instead how amazed I was to see how the world had changed in my absence.

The signs of spring were all around me in the budding of the trees, the green baby leaves...the fresh turned soil with new flowers...daffodils, tulips, and the arrival of the green, green grass once again.  I realized anew that spring, and more especially Easter, is a time of rebirth.  Seeing the beauty in the world around me rejuvenated my spirits and helped me to feel as though my strength and daily peace could be renewed as well.

Every year as Easter arrives, I see the signs of spring emerging in the world around me and I think back on the feelings that I had on that beautiful day when I entered the world around me again.   I try to concentrate on that feeling... the feeling of rebirth, freshness, new life… It helps me to once again "renew" my spirits, so to speak, and to remember that everything I am currently going through will also eventually pass away and will bring about new and beautiful changes in my life.

Dear Cryssa, I came across this great and touching article. Of course the feelings of rebirth, freshness, new life are always welcome and brighten our soul and our spirit. As always, I say
that doubt should not be in our thoughts. It is normal that sometimes even people of great faith and spirit feel low and sometimes need help from whomever can assist. We should not forget, we live on earth with a physical body which has different feelings than the soul or the spirit. We should always try to be patient and not to let different influences take over. I like your train of thought and I am confident that you will master these feelings and especially the stream of love which I always talk about. Love Emile

A beautifully written and very inspiring story. The loss of a child is so painful. I'm glad that Spring brings such comfort to your life. Very refreshing and heartfelt story.

The loss of a child, no matter from what circumstances, can make a hole in the parents heart that will never be closed.
Life goes, many Springs pass, fortitude and faith will help to soothe the pain, but in reality it is there, like the first day.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your recounting of the experience is courageous. You gift us with the knowledge of your personal pain here and enable us to share in your life, how it was, how you manage the memories and how you have grown since. Spring, the promise of new life. The crucifiction and resurrection again, hold the promise of new life. Our little ones wait for us on the other side and we can thank Christ for this. Many blessings, in Him, J'nia <> <

I am so sorry about Brenton's death, but we both know he has a new heart and rests in Jesus' Arms. And you are so right: spring does have a lot of significance, as this compelling write shows. Very well penned, Cryssa; you are ever in my prayers and thoughts!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :*(
