If the Obama approach to solving the problem is based on faulty premises, how can his solution be a viable one?

Obama makes beautiful speeches while many people stare in awe.  They approach his speeches/lectures with a cultish servility.  In their minds, whatever he says is the true measure of the man.  Never mind what he does; it’s what he says that counts.  Or do they even hear what he says?  I don’t think so.  They just like him; fawningly so.   They don’t question him, they don’t dispute him (they wouldn’t even if they took the time to look more closely at what he says) and they don’t let anyone else get away with questioning him either.  If they once believed one way, and Obama said something else, they quickly change their minds to his way of thinking.  They don’t question his statistics, many of which no thinking person could believe.  They don’t reason out his theories or policies.  They don’t seem to notice his inaccuracies, his arrogance, the fact that he has already gone back on much of his campaign promises and they certainly don’t seem to notice the way he seems to state that his ways, his solutions to our problems, are the ‘only’ way out of our present dilemma.

In his latest speech, the President outlined how we got into our present financial difficulties.  This is what he said:

“As has been widely reported, it started in the housing market. During the course of the decade, the formula for buying a house changed: instead of saving their pennies to buy their dream house, many Americans found they could take out loans that by traditional standards their incomes just could not support. Others were tricked into signing these subprime loans by lenders who were trying to make a quick profit. And the reason these loans were so readily available was that Wall Street saw big profits to be made. Investment banks would buy and package together these questionable mortgages into securities, arguing that by pooling the mortgages, the risks had been reduced. And credit agencies that are supposed to help investors determine the soundness of various investments stamped the securities with their safest rating when they should have been labeled “Buyer Beware.””

Now this is the standard Democrat party line, so I don’t suppose anyone is surprised that he would say these things.  What should be surprising but, alas is not, is that these statements are factually incorrect and that few seem to notice.  The Democrat leaders sure aren’t going to say so.  Neither is the press since, “As widely reported…” is half the problem.

The historic truth is that the change in the formula for buying a house was changed by a Democrat controlled congress and signed on to by the Clinton Administration, a policy that first came to be in the Carter Administration.  It wasn’t just something that “…many Americans found…” , as the President stated in his speech as if it were just an accidental happenstance.  This change happened purposely by the Democrats.  If he is an honest and upright man, a non-political, the non-partisan-loving President that Obama promised to be, then why doesn’t he tell the truth?   Why didn’t he say, “We meant well, but we made a mistake.  Now we have to fix things.”  After all, he began stating these things by announcing that he was going to ‘explain’ how we got here.

He went on to say that, “Others were tricked into signing these subprime loans by lenders who were trying to make a quick profit.”  This too, is factually incorrect.  Nobody was tricked.  They are being tricked now, but not then, not by lenders anyway.  If they were being tricked, it was by the government, not the banks.  Do Obama supporters really believe that banks set out to purposely make bad loans, subprime no less?  Do these people ever stop to think about what they are hearing from their party leaders?  Banks don’t make ‘quick profits’ by making faulty loans; in fact, they are usually very careful not to do this - wouldn’t cha think?  One would think that this was a no brainer, but apparently not.  What Obama failed to explain was that lawmakers made it mandatory that banks make these loans under penalty of major fines.  It wasn’t bank greed, it was the Democrat controlled government manipulating the housing market and forcing their will on the banks.

In addition, it was the Democrats in Congress that fought against the Republicans, including such names as John McCain and George W. Bush and others, who attempted on numerous occasions to place greater oversight on this policy.  They (the Democrats) said the housing market was secure and that Republicans are worrying needlessly and being alarmists – thank you Barney Frank.

Obama went on in his speech saying Wall Street saw money to be made here when investment banks would “buy and package” these “questionable” mortgage securities.  Yeah, ya think?  They know the meaning of the word 'secure'.  Now I understand that most people are probably like me and don't fully understand the stock market, but surely we all know that it is a profit controlled, profit driven institution.  Some call it greed; they certainly did when the housing market crashed.  But come on, – if we know that Wall Street functions on greed, then how stupid is it for the government to dangle the very carrot in front of these folks that would prove to be the death-nail to the housing market.  Even if the government did not mean for this to happen – can’t we still admit that it was a mistake – their mistake - and that Wall Street only reacted  like Wall Street, much like the scorpion only acted like a scorpion when he stung the turtle on the other side of the river?  What did they imagine Wall Street would do?

Then he added blame to the credit companies, and banks by the way, for investing in these “packages”  and on the part of the banks -  to regain some of their losses.  It would appear that the President has found plenty of others to blame; just not the most guilty.

The government put this scenario into motion and the government is responsible.  When, on very few occasions, they are forced to take the blame (they will only take a little of it even then) who do they point fingers at?  Bush, of course - and the Republicans.  How absurd.  They do that because it all came crashing down on Bush's watch.  How convenient.  They say he spent too much money on the war in Iraq.  How this relates to the housing market collapse I have never heard adequately explained.  It's like they are saying, if not for the money allocated for the war effort, we would have had the money to...what?...fix a problem they claimed we didn't have?

The point is - If Obama’s approach to solving the problem is based on faulty premises, how can his solution be a viable one?  His speech went on and on with one faulty premise after another.  But the reaction from the listeners (and readers on line) was simple fawning praise for the glory of the man, President Obama.  When the President speaks, the people listen, you can be sure of that.  But do they hear?

It never ceases to amaze me how Obama can stand up and lie to the people and they believe him. Am I the only one to see the truth and know this man is telling another lie? He isn't that great an orator in my estimation-I've heard better many times. He can't speak without a teleprompter-anybody can read! So the question remains-what is it he has-the only thing remaining is race-don't think it is that. He has the press in his back pocket along with the ignorant and the uninformed and the diehard Democrats. Now we are on to something--do we have that many ignorant, uninformed and diehard Democrats in this nation who have banded together to make Obama's following? Then the remainder of the folks should be the informed, intelligent, Republican, conservative, Independent and other parties. It should be a cinch to get Obama thrown out of office in 2012-everything is in our favor. What do you say folks? Lets get rid of as many of these Democrats as we can in 2010 and 2012.

The Messiah speaks and the uninformned listen, and, as you say "fawn." Democrats do not hear! Democrats will not allow their minds to accept the fact that they elected a man that, quite possibly, may mean the end of America as you and I know it. Democrats heads are set in concrete and buried in the sand. God help America, and our children.
