Why I prefer Bugs Bunny over The Powerpuff Girls...

I grew up watching cartoons on television. But what I watched (as opposed to what people watch today) was entertainment for me--entertainment that was FUNNY.

I grew up watching the classics: it didn't matter whether it was Walt Disney, Hanna-Barbera, or, my favorite, Looneytunes. Sure, some of it was violent (and, yes, Bugs and his pals were full of violence), but they relied more on gags and jokes (and very few of the characters "died"; they somehow always "came back to life"), and there was very little in the way of blood.

The shows today--i.e., "The Powerpuff Girls," "Cow and Chicken," "Dexter's Labratory," or the Japanese "anime" fare--are NOT, in any way, what I would consider "funny" or "entertaining." They make Bugs look like the Teletubbies; there is so much violence I can't stand watching them, and forget about plots or storylines. There are none. And they are STUPID. And the artwork is something to be desired: I could draw better than some of those "artists"! How people can watch such mindless drivel is beyond me. GIVE ME BUGS OR MICKEY MOUSE ANYDAY!!!!!!

Definitely, I agree!

I grew up with many of these cartoons myself and wish that cartoons would return to their harmless facinations. The artwork of these cartoons were very colorful, 2D, and somewhat 3D. Children were once very intrigued and fulfilled by cartoons on Saturday mornings. Subliminal messages flow through the media every second, but you hope that the messages out the children will not be negative, scarry, or harmful.
