"It appears we’re headed the way of the Romans"
Property taxes for schools have risen, yet parents say public schools are for gladiators. Tourists come to The City and are accosted by begging bums. Potholes are everywhere. Prices for all public services have skyrocketed, yet services have diminished. California has no budget.
And most horrible of all: We are facing a declining otter population. Maybe it is time to reread Edward Gibbon’s classic “The Decline and fall of the Roman Empire.”
– Theodore Carl Soderberg, San Francisco
