I was sitting in a Bible study group, discussing Revelation, chapter 16, when we read verse 3.
"And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea."
I asked the group, "What does the blood of a dead man look like"? Someone said "Well, its probably brown in color". I then asked, "Have any of you seen the aerial shots of the spill in the Gulf? What did it look like"? The group went silent.
The pictures from the air show that the oil slick is not the black color of crude oil, but light brown in color, and it kills every living thing it in its path.
Until lately, very little of these predictions made sense to me. I could never comprehend the ocean turning blood red, or how mountains and islands could move out of their place. I had trouble visualizing a "bottomless pit".
Many times others have said, "the end is near", but never have so many of the pieces of the puzzle come together so well, and made sense.
We now know that islands and mountains, and continents, do move out of their places. Its called "Plate Tectonics Theory", and is a proven fact.
The "Bottomless Pit" describes something just recently discovered under the Yellowstone supervolcano, a chimney type structure that feeds magma from the mantle of the earth to the magma chamber itself. This is a tube that extends deep into the earth and becomes structurally less defined the further it extends. It has no distinct bottom.
What’s really disturbing is the recent oil spill in the gulf.
When I realized that this disaster fits the prediction in Revelation except for size, I began to imagine what would happen if all 300+ oil rigs in that area, were to be destroyed at once. Imagine an oil spill with 300 times the effect of the one we are watching now
But what could cause such a calamity? The one event described in Revelation 8, verse 8 that begins the troubles of that book.
"And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea …
Rev: Chapter 9, verse 1 continues.
"And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto to the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit."
A meteor or large body falling into the sea the size of a mountain would certainly cause a tsunami large enough to destroy all the oil rigs in the Gulf with the result that our current catastrophe would seem insignificant by comparison. And it would cover the oceans with the color of "a dead man's blood".
Another link is the phrase "given the key of the bottomless pit". It could surely cause global movement in the earth's crust and possibly BE the "key" to the bottomless pit feeding the Yellowstone Supervolcano, by fracturing the crust enough to allow hundreds of cubic miles of magma to erupt as a supervolcano.
If these two events did happen everything predicted in the Bible, polluting of the water, destruction of crops, starvation, disease and sickness, war, and death by the millions, would occur
.
No one in the time of John had any idea of oil slicks, plate tectonics, or supervolcanoes, yet he could not have set up a better foundation for a modern, credible, science-based plot for a disaster movie.
Are we seeing the pieces of the puzzle come together? Perhaps, but only time will tell. All it would take would be the "trigger" event of a "mountain burning with fire, falling into the sea", to start it all.
