Scientology does not hide their distaste for homosexuals. Despite the fact that the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association declassified homosexuality as a mental illness, the Church of Scientology keeps that view alive. In fact they keep L Ron Hubbard's opinions on the subject alive. In his book "Science Of Survival: Prediction Of Human Behavior" he wrote "Such people should be taken from the society as rapidly as possible and uniformly institutionalized; for here is the level of the contagion of immorality, and the destruction of ethics...No social order which desires to survive dares overlook its stratum 1.1's. No social order will survive which does not remove these people from its midst." At the time L Ron alleged he had an auditing process that would cure homosexuality. The Church now denies the very exsistence of the passage.
In his letter to Tommy Davis, Oscar Winning Director Paul Haggis blasted the churches support of Prop 8, which prohibited same sex marriage. "In that first conversation, back at the end of October of last year, you told me you were horrified, that you would get to the bottom of it and "heads would roll." You promised action. Ten months passed. No action was forthcoming. The best you offered was a weak and carefully worded press release, which praised the church's human rights record and took no responsibility. Even that, you decided not to publish. The church's refusal to denounce the actions of these bigots, hypocrites and homophobes is cowardly. I can think of no other word. Silence is consent, Tommy. I refuse to consent." The Church of Scientology supported the California proposal which eventually passed, and was considered a blow for the gay rights movement.
With the Church making such denouncements on homosexuals, how do they attract said demographic to the church? In the case of our source Allan, they used trickery. He had been at the compound waiting for his cousin and was asked to watch a film about the Sea Organization. It turned out to be a recruitment video however, one that repeated about 20 times. "They say it is a movie about the sea organisation but it is a full recruitment video simular to ones for the armed forces... I have herd from many other exs that say leaving some one in the movie room to watch the movie several times over is common practice. The more it is drilled into someone the eaiser it is to break them and recruit them"
Allan explains how Scientologists discovered he was gay. "As part of this process i was again audited and asked a very long series of questions. Some were very disgusting like had i had sex with children or animals i was disgusted that they would even ask that questions... then in amongst all theses filthy things they ask have you had sex with another male . The e-meter reacted. I had been outed. My worst nightmare was about to come true . None of my family at this point knew i was gay." After the revelation that he was gay, the auditor and other members decided to "cure him" of his orientation. "The Auditor quickly left the room and after about 40 minuets of sitting alone in the room a lady walked in and said I had to go to ethics and we would "handle" the homosexual situation. I was then led to Ethics and told to study a booklet "The way to Happiness" i had to word clear (look up the meaning of every work contained in the booklet) and i had to memorize the meanings and the entire booklet and i would be tested. This took me almost a week. During this time i was spending 8-10 hours a day in ethics and then taken to an apartment close by and audited away from the church by a special auditor to handle the gay topic. This involved the auditor demanding specific, detailed and very private information out of in of my sexual experiences with men and other various aspects of my life. This would go on for anywhere between 7-10hours a night."
Recently a youtube video was put up where Scientologist Tim Armer says that it is "fine" to kill homosexuals. In fact the man cites L Ron Hubbard as the reason why the murder of gays is OK. Former scientologists recently alleged that Current Church Head David Miscavige and other high ranking officials physically and psychologically abusing them. Church Of Scientology has yet to deny these charges.
