In 2011, and in my 66 years on the planet, I'm proud I have never been a member of the worthless Republican Party; the worthless Democratic Party or a member of any Independant Party such as the Tea Party. I see all these as the Halloween Party...filled with self-serving creepy crawlers.
In my 66 years, I have never seen a Congress like this one...endless fighting; gridlock; pushing and shoving to get the advantage on one side or the other; 'my way or the highway' mentality...I see the Republican and Democratic Party along with the worthless Congress in their death bed! There has to be a better way to do this...that is...govern the country.
With all this pushing and shoving in the Congress, the American people are never considered...they are lost in the shuffle...something the Congress will pay for on election day, etc.
The following article, was written by the Associated Press, and the piece was published in the Albuquerque Journal on November 2, 2011. The headlines read;
"Debt Panel Urged To Overshoot Target;"
The sub-headlines reads;
"Experts: $1.2T In Cuts Not Enough"
"WASHINGTON: Four prominent deficit-cutters told Congress' bipartisan super-committee on Tuesday that they should raise revenues and make major changes to expensive health programs on their way to debt-reduction compromise that should exceed their $1.2 trillion: 10 year mandate;
But, the indication of the partisan divisions that have stalled the the evenly divided panel, lawmakers on the committies spent much of their time touting their own plans for mopping up red ink and sparking the ecomony.
If the two parties prove unwilling to make concessions...like Republicans accepting higher revenues and Democrats backing significent overhauls to programs like Medicare...than 'they are both complicit in letting America destroy itself,' testified Pete Domenici, a former GOP senator from New Mexico who headed the Senate Budget Committee.
"I think it would be devastating," Alice Rivlin, a White HOuse budget director under President Clinton, said of the outcome should the panel fail. "We could face a long period of stagnant growth another recession that would be worse than the one we're slowly climbing out of."
Erskine Bowles, a White House chief of staff under Clinton, said the public would reward the lawmakers 'if you're bold and do it in a smart manner'...a euphemism for going well beyond their goal of finding at least $1.2 trillion in savings.
But, he sounded a not of pessimism; 'I have great respect for each of you individually. But, collectively, I'm worried you're going to fail." All four budget experts urged the panel to go trillions beyond its savings target.'"
END OF ARTICLE;
As far as I'm concerned, the Great Society is over, and it's do or die for the American people...that is...if they come out of their 40 year coma...and act, etc.
