Reviewer comments: "This is one of the quirkiest novels ever!"
-- Monica Roberts -- Northwest Arkansas Literary Critic
Reminiscent of off-beat writing in the styles of Tom Robbins, Carl Hiaasen, Joe R. Lansdale and Christopher Moore, comes a timely novel that will appeal to the many readers attracted to those successful authors.
The zany characters in Hog Lick, AR are drawn together by several unusual situations that are oddly affected by the contemporary events of September 11th. Be assured that the humor is done in good taste.
Smuggling illegal aliens to work in the poultry industry, converting an airport metal detector for finding unauthorized theater treats, running a private speed trap, reclaiming of an abandoned town and scheming to profitably process chicken manure are among the antics of a cast of characters that includes considerable Arkansas local color and a Middle -Eastern motel/convenience store manager. Mayhem, murder, missteps and an FBI terrorist investigation join with the silliness and homespun philosophy to round out the plot.
Come on in and visit a spell with Tinky, the oversized cretin, Stanley, Tinky's roommate and home-spun philisopher, Roscoe, Stanley's aromatic older brother with the limited vocabulary, Rhodenta, Roscoe's girlfriend and partner in small crimes, Boddie, Rhodenta's dim deputy cousin, Jasper, shady entrepenuer, Packy, would-be terrorist and convenience store manager, and all the rest of madcap characters that hang around Hog Lick, AR.
It's a great place to visit...
