The battle of the Believer in waiting on the timing of the Lord.

                                                                                         My Times

Have you ever been in a place or situation in which you wanted to be somewhere else? Have you been there a long time, more than you can ever have expected? You may have grown tired and weary despite the encouragement found in the Word of God, a sermon, or even the occasional uncommon Holy Ghost phone call from someone that you have not heard from in quite some time. Making trips to the altar, the meeting place, vocal prayers have now entered into the stillness and silence. One day you hear “wait on the Lord” and “be of good cheer.”  You come away from the experience knowing His voice and the commands that were given must be embraced to the fullest. But the struggle in your mind and flesh still questions when, where, what, why and even how?

When, the question that is on the mind of almost everyone in the Body of Christ denotes time. Time is that element in the earth realm that was created by God, who sits outside of time in the eternal. The enemy gained access to time through the fall of Adam and uses it to frustrate the saints when it comes to the purpose and plans of God. “And he shall speak great words against the most High and shall wear out the saints of the most High and think to change times and laws.” (Daniel 7:25 KJV).

For those of us who are waiting on the  “BREAKTHROUGH”, know that the enemy is speaking against God and His Word to persecute the saints. His aim is to tear down the saints’ faith in the Word of God. Using the element of time he distracts, distorts, hinders, fraudulently holds, misdirects and sabotages. We battle through with prayer and fasting, throwing everything in our arsenal at the enemy, while still stagnant in the same place. The enemy attempts to fulfill his purpose by stealing, changing times and laws that God has set and use them against us.

Our faith becomes like a wave up and down, tossed to and fro. Make no mistake in knowing that the enemy has you under observation. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking who he may devour.” (1Peter 5:8). If the enemy is watching and waiting to attack, then we must be awake, alert, aware and keenly watchful.  If he steals your faith, your position is compromised and weakened and you will no longer be steadfast and unmovable. These are the days, in which we must be firmly planted, rooted and solidly grounded, digging our heels in faith in our God.

In the midst of becoming battle weary, we never think to rest in the Lord. Resting requires that we cease from activity. There is a battle to enter into the rest of the Lord because the enemy works continuously to promote the deceptive mirage that God is not doing anything for you or moving fast enough and you must do it yourself. The enemy will even inject thoughts that God does not hear or even know what you are going through. “Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off.” (Jeremiah 23:23 KJV). Meanwhile God knows His “thoughts and plans toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of Peace, and not of evil, to give an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11).

There are some battles that are not yours because we are not fully equipped to fight. Let the eternal God, the Creator of time do battle for you in the arena of time. “The Breaker, the Messiah will go up before them. They will break through, pass in through the gate and go out through it, and their King will pass on before them, the Lord at their head.”  (Micah 2:13 AMP). When eternity steps into time it causes chaos because the Creator has come to make adjustments that are catastrophic to the enemy’s realm and dismantles his plan.

The Lord gives instruction to “rest in Him and wait patiently for Him.” (Psalm 37:1). There is a battle to rest! Resting in Him is the absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness. The enemy will attempt to pull you out of your rest because he is really pulling you out of your position of faith. He wants to keep you in the struggle that is not yours.

If you read closely in the New Testament, there are a lot of scriptures with the words such as 'abide', 'in Him' and 'in whom'. Jesus wants us to rest and abide in Him with the assurance that the enemy will be defeated. For in him we live, and move, and have our being.”  (Acts 17:28). If we abide in Him, the enemy will discover at the onslaught of his attack that he is not battling us, but that the Almighty One has taken over. When we are obedient and submit the battle to Him, then “The Lord said to my Lord," Sit by me at my right side until I put your enemies under your control." (Psalms 110:1 NCV).

In all of this there is a command issued from the throne room to “be of good cheer.”  This is when you leave the when of the situation (time) and go to the what and how. “Lord, you want me to be of good cheer even though you know everything of what I am going through?” Help! Is this yet another battle or a test?

Whenever  God spoke the word “be”, it became. Whatever was associated with the word “be” manifested. So in essence He was saying in the midst of waiting, that joy and gladness would come to dismantle and overcome the plan of the enemy. “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer, take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted! For I have overcome the world.  I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.” (John16: 33 AMP).  Now all I have to do is position my heart, my soul, and my spirit for the victory.

“But I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God.

My times are in Your hands.”

(Psalm 31:14-15a AMP)
