We the people
3/31/2010 1:19:40 PM
A well known Country singer, Randy Travis has a verse in one of his songs that goes like this, “I don’t have faith in politics, but I believe in the will of the people”. I guess that defines why I’m writing about patriotism, the Constitution and the American way of life. I never had a desire to speak out like this before and I guess you can say that I’ve come out of the closet of complacency and left my comfort zone to be counted as an American Patriot.
I’m not a theologian, preacher or politician. I’m just another citizen who has something to say and I have a desire to defend the Constitution of the United States and uphold the God given rights of, “We the People”. I might add, unless those in the white house and congress forget this, you are also a part of, “We the People”. You are not set aside or exempt in any way or above the law. You don’t get off that easy. You are part of the people that our forefathers founded this country on and wrote the Declaration of Independence. You are in the Declaration of Independence and you are in the Constitution of this country we call America. And above all, you are, “We the People of the United States”, and must be accountable for your actions, for what affects “We the People”, will affect you as well.
Now I have to appeal to those who would resort to violence in whatever form they use. I don’t know if you are reading this at all, chances are you can care less. But please don’t use God or Jesus Christ to fuel your agenda. I don’t pretend to understand why you feel you need to respond with deadly force, but I don’t believe that our God is behind you and if you do then you don’t understand the scriptures. Militia groups that want to over throw the government, is terrorism plain and simple. Our present laws give us the right to defend the American way of life against such activity, domestic or foreign. Isn’t it enough that we have to go over to other countries and battle against those who want to destroy us, and search for terrorist cells right here in this country, to now have to fight against militia groups who want to tear down and destroy our way of life. And you want to snuff out the lives of law enforcement officers as well as their families. You know who you are. Then you have the audacity to claim all of this in the name of God or Jesus Christ. It’s clear that you don’t understand the scriptures and you are being misled with false doctrine. Jesus didn’t tell His disciples to go and overthrow the government. He came in love, healing and peace. He came to forgive and free us from the slavery of sin that drives all people to their end. And if you think that a militia is needed to overthrow the Anti Christ, then think again. God doesn’t need your help or even desires it. The Bible clearly teaches that if you are a true believer, in that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, was buried and on the 3rd day rose from the grave and ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father, then you will also understand that you won’t even be here to see the anti-Christ, let alone do battle with him. The true believer is the church, the Lords bride and He will someday return to call His bride home. This is the reference that’s used to explain the rapture found in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4: 13-18. So if you are still here after the rapture, then that should be an indicator to what you truly believed in. On top of that, there will come a day when Jesus Himself will come down with an army from heaven and snatch the anti-Christ, the false prophet and the devil right off the face of the earth and their judgment will be fierce and final. Read Revelation 19 and 20.
I can’t blame some people for being angry these days due to the decisions in the white house and congress. But violence only begets violence. The American way of life as I understand it is in the vote. That’s how we change things. Not by militia tactics, death threats or name calling, or even throwing bricks through windows. You know the old adage; “those who live in glass houses should not throw stones”. I’ll leave that one to your own imagination. And if you think that your vote doesn’t matter, then guess again. Consider this hypothesis; Take ten people and divide them evenly on each side of the vote for whatever thing is being counted and one person decides that his/her vote doesn’t amount to a hill of beans and so that one person backs out of the process, guess which side wins. By not voting the opposite side wins and you are now stuck with the consequence of that decision. I like what Michelle Morin had to say in her Feb 8, 2010 editorial of the Constitutionalist today paper. “Unless Jesus is on the ballot, we are always voting for the lesser of two evils. Being human, there is no perfect candidate. Anyone we elect will eventually fail us, even our favorites. This is why we stay actively engaged and keep them all accountable after Election Day”.
People have faults and we all live in a sin fallen world. No one is perfect. Even if you don’t have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, or whatever belief system you hold onto or don’t go that way at all, people still fall short of our expectations. But to do nothing because it wouldn’t matter anyway is wrong, plain and simple. So get involved and get out there and vote. Make a decision in your life, that you will make a difference.

With that America, I leave you to determine where you stand.
