Ever been at a fork in the road?
8/30/2005 2:43:28 PM
This is a new phase in my life. It would appear I'm at the crossroads and it's an odd experience.
Okay, so on Saturday we take our daughter up to college, and this leaves us with an empty nest. Sort of scarey. I've been psyching myself up for this moment, and figure it's best to have a plan, rather than wait to fall into the void. My two-pronged plan is this: 1) Work: find a job and get out of the house. 2) Social life: Become less of a couch potato and develop a larger network.
Sound good?

I've got a brand new Masters in Writing, and I wonder if that credential will count for anything. The past couple of weeks I've peered at the classified section to find that special job with my name on it. The last time I did this was four years ago, and I landed a quirky little job teaching memoir writing at a private school. I know the job market is terrible, but really, all it takes is one job. This is where serendipity comes in: energy follows intention. It's Feng Shui, it's a universal principle. I believe it. Something will come along.
