Bastille Day, July 14th 6/9/2009 4:52:13 AM Please remember Bastille Day on July 14th, chosen by the mentally ill, or those so labeled, to represent the liberation of psychiatric patients and the abuses they are forced to endure. On this day in France, mentally ill inmates were freed. This Day also represents the protest of treatments that are harmful and unethical. Abuses are experimental psychosurgeries and other forms of altering brain functioning and chemistry, the use of over-prescribed medications, electroconvulsive therapy (shock treatments), confinement to hospital units and small rooms, the use of restraints, and many other aspects of 'treatment' that rob us of our dignity and pride.
