Back to School at 41

What was I thinking when I decided to go back and finish my bachelor's degree at 41...
I spent 5 hours on my first paper tonight. Yes, 5 hours to write (and note, not yet complete) a 2 page opinion paper! Read an article and relate it to a particular motival writer (who shall remain nameless in this blog). The hard part was not reading the article and finding the relationship. It was take the thousands of thoughts in my mind and compressing them down to 2 pages! Be brief, the teacher instructed. How do you summarize an article, give an opinion, and conclude it in 2 pages? I'm a creative writer...I'm not used to having "limitations" on my creations.
Yep, 5 hours of my day. A little less then 1/4 of my day. And I'm still not done!
What was I thinking when I went back to school? I was thinking, I can do this! I am up for the challenge. Life is to short, and I need to stop putting off until tomorrow that which I can do today. So with persistance, and practice, and some encouragement from my friends, I will conquer. July 2006...begin with the end in mind. I just hope I can find enough free hours to get there!
