Same thing for a security deposit transaction at a vendor: if an error occurs (or a viral penetration causes a security lapse), then the overdunning of your VISA account (credit or checking) will go forward, athe fee not automatically rescinded, because the overdraft protection doe snbot allow for a vendor to _test_ for the propernes of the transaction: you fet hit with the $33 fee in either event, and the vendor cannot tell.
Since spreaddsheets have kept track of such dependencies for nearly 20 years now, to automatically remove the dependent charges or other transactions:
Who don't banks do this as well? (They make more money that way)
(So do creidt/debit cards, and the issuers of them)
(Also, some vendors do: but not this one: they tried to do the right thing)
If I had not persisted, the first associate would have refused the claim: only rhe VISA specialist got it correct.
