At long last, my second novel, SILENT SANCTUARY, has been published and released. I invite you to take a look.
In some earlier blogs, I presented the first three chapters of SILENT SANCTUARY. I did not make the same mistake again by going with a generic, bland cover design. You may notice that my first novel, REUNIONS, has had the cover changed, and rest assured, it is a dramatic improvement over the original. Carrie Simmons, a friend of mine who is also married to the president of my local Volkswagen Club, designed the covers for both of my books. She is a graphic artist by profession, and I will figuratively kick myself until the end of time for not immediately utilizing her talents the first time around.I have been told on a Yahoo Discussion Board for Writers to never use a graphic artist for a book cover design, but rather to spend hundreds of dollars on a book cover designer, because, in their words, "they are the only ones who know what they're doing...." Uh huh.....Sure.....Is that why these covers have been highly praised?
You must remember that they are also the ones who say that traditional and self-publishing are the only ways to go; i.e., subsidy publishing is worthless. I may indeed sell very few books. But you know what? Very few books is better than NO books while you get rejected for fifteen or twenty years. I'm 46 years old, which isn't ancient, but I'm still two decades beyond being able to wear clothes from Old Navy without looking ridiculous..... you know what I'm saying?
