Lighten Up!
1/22/2007 1:14:06 AM
My husband and I enjoy watching Grade B creature features. We want to see lots of action in out movies- the more buildings blowing up, the better. We watched two movies this weekend, Critters IV and Alone in the Dark, both of which made pretty good Grade B movies, although my husband thinks Alone in the Dark should have had a little more nudity. However, despite our enjoyment of the films, we did have one quibble—the fact that so many of the scenes were shot in the dark. We couldn't see what the heck was going on! I know the director did that because the setting was supposed to be dark, but it does us no good if we can't see it.

The directors of the TV show LOST have a habit of doing that as well—shooting important, pivotal scenes in the dark. We're left trying to follow ghostly gray images on the screen, and then trying to guess from the aftermath exactly what happened.

So here's a plea to all movie directors—please, lighten up your sets! Your viewers will thank you for it!
