Enjoy the pain and relish detail, succumb to trivia, bow down to grammar and yield to editing and revision; kiss the feet of your forerunners, get down on your knees, clasp your hands, prostrate yourself before Thoth—sacred white ape, god of the quill and protector of scribes—and plea for the mercy of the collective unconscious that it may imbibe you with a single archetypal thought. If this doesn’t work, drink beer.
