Family History?
My name is Marie Lotze. I live in Phoenix Arizona, USA. I was born in Washington State. I am writing to you to see if you've any information about my family history. I can only go back so far with facts, such as Ernst {Julius or Jacob} Lotze was born sometime between 1852-1854 9 March, in what we believe is Dresden, Saxony. He is the son of Carl Goettes Lotze and Johanna Sophia Prunsker {maybe spelled PULTUSKIER?}. {I've been unable to find out anything conclusive about his parents or ancestors, the closest I've come is a Johanna born in 1790, who had a brother named Carl Jacob born around the same time. I can find other Lotze's from 1000 and the 1600's, but unsure if they belong to this family, also Rudolph Herman Lotze keeps popping up as well, yet there seems to be no family information about him either.} Ernst {sometimes called Ernest, but listed as Ernst on the ships manifest} was married, but to whom we are not sure. We know he had a daughter before he left Germany name Helene Lotze {later Helene Zimmermann, she lived in Dresden in the 1950's} He left Germany on 19 July 1884 on the SS Eider with a traveling companion named Marie Augusta Najork {other variations on her name are Maria Pauline Najark and Marie A Nyjark, as well as Nayortz, she is buried as Marie A. Lotze. But there is no record of them ever getting married, not on the ship or in any other place we can find.} she was born in 1862 in what we believe to have been Prussia. We know they entered the USA in New York, it took them a month to travel to San Francisco California, and then they made their way to Washington state settling on Onion Creek, in Eastern Washington. They had 12 Children, She died in 1922 and he passed in about 1927 or so. If you have any information at all it would be greatly appreciated, or if you could direct us in the right direction. Sorry none of us speak German, however we can have the emails or documents translated. Thank you very much for your time and consideration in this matter. If you could point us in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
