Muse Works 4/16/2009 8:24:49 PM Where did that poem come from - the one which is singing in your mind when awakening from a dream or nightmare? We lightly talk about "The Muse" and we wonder what it really is. How many times have you awakened from sleep with a poem already finished in your mind, and all you had to do was write it down before it slipped away. Marcia Miller-Twiford's "The Vow" was one of those; a startling story-poem which deviates wildly away from Marcia's own "style" of poetry. So are many of mine - poems which were given to me - fully written - in my sleep. Many topics. Many different styles. Who is this Muse who comes to us with something to say? Many styles might hint at many different muses. Perhaps, when a poet passes from this mortal plane - the spirit of the poet lives on, still composing lyrical verse, and dreams are a connection point between the spirit world and the poet deep in slumber. A way for the poet-spirit to continue publishing. Mayhap the Muse is a very real poet on the other side of a paranormal curtain. Proof? Who needs proof when you've got the poem :-)
