The Tithes 10/10/2007 7:54:35 AM The tithes is an obligation. It was instituted by God, and was exclusive to the Jews. The tithes was instituted by God and was exclusive to the Jews. When Christ came, He stated that He came for the last sheep of Israel, but then He extended salvation to the Gentiles. Christ had never told the Gentiles to pay tithes. As a result, no Christian had ever paid tithes in the Bible, neither Peter, Paul, John, James or any of the Disciples have ever paid tithes in the Bible. Now how did the tithes get back into the churches? This is one Question I'd like to ask. If anyone knows the answer to this, please let me know. Since the tithes is an obligation, Christ and God do not want people who give because they feel obligated; they want people who give freely, and not just to the churches, but to people on a whole. Christ and God want people who give not because they think that they are going to get back things, but because giving to them is reward enough. As far as I can see pastors are creating people who God and Christ do not want, because they keep telling them that the more they give is the more they'll receive. As a result people are only giving to get.
