Tropical Storm Hanna Fails to Wash Away Bookstore 9/15/2008 6:43:16 AM Weeks of perfect, sunny weather in New England came to a sudden, abrupt end on September 6, as tropical storm Hanna stormed across the Northeast. Naturally, this was the same day I had a booksigning scheduled at Borders Books in Methuen, Massachusetts. You could say that the storm, uh, dampened turnout a bit. (Pun intended.) But it was still fun. Thanks to everyone who came.
I was signing my new book, AMONG THE CLOUDS, as real clouds gathered and darkened overhead. The deluge didn't really start until late that afternoon, but by the time it was over we had about six inches of rain, according to the plastic toy rain gauge in my friends' backyard. Many roads were flooded. I'm glad I didn't have to commute home by canoe.
