The Wheels of Progress 5/19/2008 11:17:11 AM I grew up in the 1940s and 50s. Our car until I was 13 was a 1930 Plymouth with a top speed of 30 miles per hour. My 2ed car was a 1959 Ford. This was the 1st car in our family with an automatic transmission and a heater that worked. It had no side view mirrows. I bought a right side one only to find out that there was no place to mount it on the door. We mounted it on the hood.
My next car was a 69 Ford, the 1st car I had with power steering. Since then points and carburetors have been replaced by much more reliable components.
The last blog I posted was about a preacher who told his comgreation that their church would not grow until some funerals were held, meaning that its leaders were so rigidage that they would have to be replaced before progress could be made.
This is true of the leaders of the world. Hilter, Starlin, Franco Mio, and even American leaders of the past, have been replaced by more moderate leaders.
Then there is sex. When I was growing up the only place that this could be talked about were doctor offices and college class rooms. Hopefully, open sexuality will lead to greater understanding between men and women and the likelyhood that homosexuality is biological rather than a matter of choice.
