Torn! 3/12/2008 2:24:40 AM Writing vs Painting While I am actively planning my next book, and I know I should get down to work even though I will probably have a year to write it (if I do get another contract!) I am itching to put paint brush to paper (or canvas). And, let's face it, I have spent a good deal lately on art materials.
I am like that, you see. Being a Gemini, when a 'craze' gets hold of me I have to throw myself into it wholeheartedly and throw money at it as well. Very often these crazes last only weeks but painting has always been a love of mine even though I have no real talent.
My present excuse for indulging myself is that since I am waiting for the manuscript of my current book KEEPING SECRETS to be returned to me for further revision and editing I can paint to my heart's content.
I am into acrylics at the moment - a very interesting although baffling medium. Acrylics are so versatile - watercolour technique or oil-painting technique are possible with it. I expect you know that already. :) Excuse my enthusiasm.
I have a free afternoon today so later, after lunch, I will get out my easel, paints and brushes and 'have a go' as artist Alwyn Crawshaw is always urging us in his TV series. He's my hero. I hang on his every word.
In this very uncertain life we must grab all the fun we can. Don't you agree?
