President Obama is not Allowed to Fail 1/22/2009 2:01:53 PM Our prayers should be with our new President and with this country, which has now lost a great deal of its right to dissent. Because I love my country, I sincerely hope that Barack Obama does well as President of the United States. Another reason I hope he does well is that I believe he will be our President for 8 years; two full terms. I think it is a foregone conclusion from the start.
There is too much invested in him by the people, both houses of Congress and especially the mainstream Press who actively campaigned for him and without whom he could not have won the election. President Obama is America’s first Black President, and because of that, he will not be permitted to fail.
A one term Presidency, while not diminishing the historical facts of his election, would denote failure in his first term and a desire on behalf of the country to remove him from office. This will not be allowed to happen. Any mistakes, missteps or errors of judgment, any snafus or scandals must be excused or explained away as trifles, insignificant, not worthy of criticism and simply dismissed.
This is, for the most part, our future for the next 8 years. Best of luck to President Barack Obama and to we the people of the United States of America. May God bless us and watch over us, because we will not be permitted to do that for ourselves.
