Paramedic Rules of Engagement #17 & 18
1/20/2009 9:15:25 PM
From the pages of the fiction novel "Adrenaline Junkies" A Paramedic Nightmare

R.O.E. #17   "Believe your patient when they tell you they

are F.T.D. (Fix'in To Die). Especially if they have a

feeling of impending doom. The first time you don't
believe them it will bite you in the ass."

Rational- A person who tells you he is going to die or has this strange
feeling like they are slipping away, believe them and treat them
accordingly. If they are faking, oh well. Most of the time you can
tell by their tone of voice.

R.O.E. #18     "For each death you encounter, ask GOD for
forgiveness and pray for the soul that was just lost.
Sometimes it just helps to endur the hardships
of this job. Using your last ditch effort to change
                       their
eternal outcome."

Rational- You encounter a large amount of death in this profession. Some who enter into this world are not prepared for the mental trauma they recieve. God is a good source and outlet. All we can offer is a prayer and sometimes that will help your internal healing of the mental abuse.
