The Politics of Social Security 6/13/2008 5:44:35 PM Why the politicians are not interested in repairing Social Security. The only challenge Social Security has ever faced, relative to solvency, is the United States Congress. What you say, how can that be? When they have bailed it out many times in the past and are always seeking ways to ensure its solvency. Not so my friends. The demon that has been systematically and legally robbing Social Security, is as a matter of fact our Congress. They have used the fund as a slush fund for their discretionary spending! To the tune of more than $2.1 trillion! Yes the "bridge to nowhere" and hundreds of other worthless wastes authorized by our congressmen have been paid for with our, Social Security fund. Phone, e-mail, fax or write a letter to your Congressmen demanding that they immediately stop using Social Security for anything other than its intended use. All of the IOU markers they have placed into the fund when they rob it are worthless promises. Let them know you are aware of this illegal practice and demand they end it and stop immediately. Furthermore, that they, fund the replacement of monies they have robbed from the system. There will then be, no solvency problem with Social Security. Do not sit idly by, act. And act now.
