Loss 5/8/2008 8:46:22 AM I wrote this for a friend who lost someone close
to her. I was reading some old documents and
came across this piece. Just thought I would share.
Why do we do the things we do? Why do we love
only to have it taken away? These are questions
that no one can answer. Life can be beautiful and
precious. It can be full of wonder and joy. We make
plans and share our dreams with the people we love
because we have hope for the future. But never once
do we think it can come to an end. Never once do
we think that this day, this hour, or this minute
could be our last. We never think that this might be
our last breath. So what can we do? The answer is
both simple and cruel. For that I am sorry. All we
can do is the best we can with the time we're given.
You have lost someone you loved. So much pain.
You loved so deeply and because of it you will have
to pay the price of grieving deeply. Your love was
real so your pain is real. I can't give you peace. Only
you can do that when you are ready. Don't go into
"self destruct mode." I barely know you but I know
your heart better than most. You are someone who
knows how to love but now you need to let the
people in your life love you. Find strength even
when there is none. Find it wherever you can. Your
friends. Your family. We need you to be strong. You
are not alone.
I don't have any answers for you. All I can do is
offer you a shoulder to cry on and an ear to
listen. Take it slow. Take the pain. Feel it, love it,
breath it. Don't be in any hurry to get back to good.
Instead baby take your time and do what's right for
you. I'm here whenever you need me. I know your
family and your kids need you. I need you. Your pain
is yours and its real. You are "simply the best."
