Hilary Clinton is Remarkable
Initially, I was going to vote for Hillary Clinton. I changed my mind - because frankly, Barack Obama appeared to be what the country needed at this time.
Hilary makes me proud, though. She objectively held her head up during the impeachment crisis of her husband. It was a time when the evening news started off with a young, impressionable Monica Lewinsky, (the girl) who wanted Hilary's husband.
The House Manager's lead by the (late) Henry Hyde, Lindsay Graham and a few other Republican zealots, including Tom Delay - marched through Congress and the Senate - using old trite law to destroy a sitting president, Hilary's husband, Bill Clinton. When Bill was impeached by the Congress - my heart went out to Hilary.
When women groups across the nation prompted her to leave Bill, she withstood her wedding vows proving she was brave and strong. Throughout years of embarassment and turmoil - Hilary kept her focus as the nation watched (everything). I watched her closely thinking that few of us could have gone through privately - what she went through publicly enduring the impeachment debacle; the resignation of Speaker of the House, Livingston, (after he challenged Bill Clinton to be a man), it was mad.
Today, Hillary, the woman who stood by her impeached husband was appointed the new Secretary of State by Barack Obama. I cannot think of another American who deserves the job more; or one who has more passion to serve her country. If I learned anything about the Clintons' it's this. "Bill and Hillary Clinton are hell-bent on serving this country and they are truly in it for the long-haul."
She stayed with Bill; she stayed with Barack. Bill supported his wife, and I truly believe the nation has learned a lot about "for better or for worse" through these two remarkable individuals.
Hilary Clinton is a woman of true courage; a woman of whom we should all be proud.
