The Snow
6/1/2015 3:37:30 AM    [ Flag as Inappropriate ]

A dream of snow...
Last night, I couldn't sleep. I have those insomnia nights sometimes. Three good nights of sleep, then bam! No sleep. When I finally managed to doze off, I had the strangest dream.

Texas weather had been frustratingly weird this Spring. There's been many floods, rain daily--until yesterday--and tornadoes, a standard feature of the Texas thunderstorm packages. The entire month of May we did not see one day of 90 degree weather. Usually, we've seen several 90s and close to 100 degrees in some. It's been an interesting weather year.

I suppose the weather was on my mind as I dreamed of The Gifted Ones and their last book in the trilogy. I'm working hard on completing the rough draft throughout June. Today is June 1, and in my dream last night I awoke with enthusiasm at beginning the lofty daily writing goals I'd set for myself.

The sun had shone beautifully the last day of May causing me to rethink my writing goals--it's hard to resist the pool on bright days--but I reasoned how I could manage a little swim time in between.

June 1, and I could not wait to begin. Light pierced my eyelids as I lay sleeping and before I opened them I smiled, thinking, "Another beautiful day!"

I sat up in bed, dressed and checked out the window... Snow? In June? In Texas? In disbelief, I stared at the huge, white flakes blanketing the ground.

It was 60 degrees last night! How could this be?

I was disheartened, but resolved to spending the first day of June at the computer writing away. The snow helped me keep my goal and led me from the temptation of floating about the pool in the sunshine.

Funny the messages dreams can send us.

I will write first... just write... then play.
