Just write?

When I look back on my early work, I can see I’ve grown as a writer.
In addition to writing prolifically, I contribute this to reading and rereading good books about writing, going to a critique group, and discipline.
But number one of my list is: disciplining myself to have a teachable spirit. This did not come natural. The first time I read for a group I was terrified. When I brought home my marked-up pages, I didn’t have the self assurance to know which changes to make and which ones to reject. I’ve gain that self assurance now.
Story telling is a wonderful gift.
Do you study the art of writing or do you just write?
