Clothed in the Lord's Virtues 9/20/2009 8:22:17 PM A poem based on Colossians 3:12 Clothed in the Lord’s Virtues
By Ayesha Glover
Holy and dearly loved,
I peer at myself in the mirror.
My heart is encouraged as a woman chosen by the Lord.
The picture of my being is one of elegance and simplicity,
As I clothe myself with the virtues of Christ.
Compassion is my blouse that fills my heart to overflowing,
Allowing me to comfort the hearts of others.
Kindness is my skirt that sways back and forth as I walk,
Wherever I go I will spread goodwill.
Humility is my undergarments protecting my feminine virtues,
Yet I am not to hide my true self, but to be open and transparent.
Gentleness is my shoes that lead me down the path of righteousness,
I desire to tread lightly as I go and not to crush the spirit of another.
Patience is my long coat, the first thing you see when you look at me,
In all situations the Lord has taught me patience comes first in love.
(Based on Colossians 3:12, NIV)
